About this tournament

Pine Belt Amateur Championship details;
Scoring will be weighted evenly between one round of singles play and one round of field events. Meaning you can earn the same amount of points in the singles round of 18 holes as you can in all 3 field events combined.
• For the singles round you will get 30 points for each person in your division you beat.
So, if the division fills up with 12 competitors, the person with the best score will earn 330 points (30 pt.s x 11 players beaten = 330 points total)

• For the field events, you will get 10 points for each competitor beaten in Accuracy, Putting & Distance.
So, if the division has 12 competitors, the person with the highest score in Accuracy gets 110 points (10 pt.s X 11 players beaten = 110 points total)
and with there being 3 field events in play, a competitor could earn up to 330 points (110 points X 3 field events = 330 points total) in the field events portion, if they won all 3 of them.

So as you can see, round 1 and round 2 will affect your overall standing in the tournament equally. So there is always a chance to come back, and to blow your lead as well I suppose.

Putting Competition; subject to change
There will be 4 portable baskets setup out in the open, right side-by-side, so that the conditions is fair for all. If the wind is blowing a certain direction, it will be the same direction for all with the baskets setup this way.

There will be 5 “stations” to putt from, all increasing in length as you go. I don’t have those distances written in stone as of yet, but I imagine they will be something like 15, 23, 30, 40 & 50 foot putts. Each competitor will get 3 putts at each station for a total of 15 putts.

The stations will of course be worth a different amount of points depending on the length of the putt, longer the putt, the more points its worth. Again, this is subject to change, but for now, the points will be worth 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 points.
So 1 point for each 15 footer you make and 2 points for each 23 footer you make, etc…

Each competitor will add up their total “putting” points and then be put in order from highest points earned to lowest points earned in their respective division. For each competitor you score higher than, you earn 10 “overall” points for the Putting portion of the tourney.

Distance Competition;
DISCLAIMER: We do not have a very good field to do this in, but we are going to do our best. It is mostly open for about 400 feet, so it will not be a big problem for most Ams, but those who can really bomb, will unfortunately have to miss a few trees. (I know. I know, but this is the best I can do.) I REALLY want a distance competition to be a part of this event, as I am sure many of you do too, so this is what we are forced to work with.

With that said, there will be no real grid that you have to keep your drive in for it to count. There will be a row of campers down the left side that you of course cannot throw towards. You will have to keep it right of all of them, but we will measure all shots that we possibly can.

Each competitor will get 4 throws, but only the LONGEST throw will count towards your “overall” score.

You will then be put in order by your division, with the longest throw on top and the shortest throw at the bottom. For each person in your division you beat, you will earn 10 “overall” points for the Distance portion of the tourney.

Accuracy Competition;
There will be 2 baskets in a wide open field with two circles around each of them. The larger circle will be roughly twice the size of the smaller circle on both baskets.

One of the baskets is roughly 50 steps away (~150 feet) and the other is roughly 75 steps away (~225 feet). The circles around the further basket will be slightly smaller than the circles around the closest basket but hitting them will be worth more points.

• ALL competitors will throw their shots from the exact same location.
• The object is to land your throws inside the accuracy circles and score points.
• Each disc that lands COMPLETELY inside the circle will score, but NO portion of the disc can be touching the painted line, or it does NOT score points.
• Each competitor gets 5 throws but here is where it gets interesting…. You get to choose which basket you want to throw at. You can try for the easy points, or you can gamble and go for the bigger points (and further, smaller circles). It will be totally up to you on how aggressive you want to play it…..
• Again, this is subject to change, but preliminary scoring will be like this
• 150 foot basket big circle = 1 point
• 150 foot basket small circle = 3 points
• 225 foot basket big circle = 3 points
• 225 foot basket small circle = 6 points
Competitors will be put in order by the amount of accuracy points they earned. For each person in your division you scored more points than, you will earn 10 “overall” points.

Total Overall Standings;
So after both rounds of play are completed (singles and field events) you will add up the total “overall” points you earned by beating people in your division in singles, accuracy, putting & distance. The person in each division with the most accumulated “overall” points will be named CHAMPION and will be invited back to the Championship event this fall to determine the BEST OF THE BEST AMATEUR DISC GOLFER in the Pine Belt Area.

Payout at each mini-series;
• ALL players will get a $9 voucher at sign up that can be used towards any purchase in my “store”.
• $3 per player will go towards Southern Nationals sanctioning
• $3 per player will go to the park fees that PBJ requires for us to play there
• $1 per player will go towards medals for the winners of each qualifier
• $1 per player will go to the Championship event held this fall to cover costs of nice trophies for the overall Champions
• That leaves around $13 a player to go to the payout of each qualifier ($30 entry)
• We will pay the top 1/3 in each division
