All registrants should have received an email with players meeting information for tomorrow. Here is the text.
Hello All!
Thank you for registering for the Parma Flex Start! We are looking forward to seeing all of your hot scores come in this Sunday. We would like to go over a few things and since this is a flex start, everyone will not be present for a players meeting, so here it is in writing:
We would like to thank those who came out this week to help beat Parma into shape. Our local courses take a lot of volunteer hours to keep in great shape and we appreciate all who helped:
Brain Best, Benjamin Best, Kyle Grimm, Andre Brunette, Brett Goheen, Ryan Bane, Josh Prahler, Tim Campbell, Tim Platt (T.P.T.S.) , Conor McKaig, Rory Cushman, and the Town of Parma.
We’d also like to thank our Hole Sponsors:
Karin Falcone, Lisa Privitere, Chris Fuchs, Mike Frenza, Guy Falcone, John Alloco, Jeff Drury, Dan Traub, Jake Peters, and Brett Goheen.
Huge thanks to Dave Copp for holding my hand through this entire process. It’s both easier and harder than I expected. We have some awesome TDs in our area but we could use a handful more.
Tee Times for the event are posted on the PDGA event page. (
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/51307) Please show up and check in 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time. This is a flex start c-tier, and as such, all PDGA rules must be followed. This includes being present when your card is set to tee off.
Official scores will be kept using the PDGA app. You can access it at PDGA.com/score. Login code is Parma21. A backup scorecard will need to be kept by someone else on the scorecard. You may use paper or Udisc or something else, but we will need a second copy of the scores.
Unfortunately for all registered ams, player’s pack discs will likely not arrive in time for the event. Production is still catching up post-pandemic. The discs are in transit and will be here either Saturday or Monday. Our fingers are crossed, but in the event that they are not here for Sunday, we will have the discs at many upcoming leagues and events, and will make every effort to get the disc to you. This includes shipping discs to those of you from out of town.
Standard Parma OB white stakes have been supplemented by a combination of white paint and pink/orange flags as such:
1 - No OB
2 - No OB
3 - No OB
4 - If you shank over 8s fairway, the far side of 8 is marked with flags and stakes.
5 - OB along the property line, left side of fairway. Marked with a combination of white stakes and flags.
6 - Painted and flagged line on the left side of the fairway. Anything left of the line is OB.
7 - No OB
8 - Stakes and flags along left side of the fairway.
9 - Creekbed is OB, as marked by flags.
10 - No OB
11 - No OB
12 - Tall grass left side of fairway is marked with flags (mowed path in between stands of tall grass is also OB). There is also a property line behind the basket, as marked by flags.
13 - No OB
14 - No OB

16 - Left side, as marked by flags.
17 - Path and over is OB, as marked by painted line.

For any newer players - Welcome! Just a few reminders:
All PDGA rules are in play (not the 2m rule), brush up on them if you’re very new. There’s lots of resources online.
Minis must be used if you wish to mark your disc. You may not flip your disc over and you may not use another disc to mark.
No practice throws are allowed during a sanctioned event. A practice throw incurs an automatic 1 stroke penalty.
You must watch your cardmates shots, and you must help them look for lost discs. Parma can be tough, and we don’t want to see people losing their plastic and taking lost disc strokes. You have 3 minutes to find a lost disc. This is to ensure a good speed of play and prevent backups.
Parma has some brutal rough. Spotters are encouraged for all divisions anytime you think one might be appropriate. Holes 7, 11, and 16 stick out as particularly blind. Help your cardmates and offer to spot. Nobody likes looking for lost discs. Thorn bushes are not unplayable lies. You must play from your mark. Optional relief is always an option and costs 1 stroke. Save a stroke and keep it in the fairway.
Give your cardmates (and your surrounding cards) the respect they deserve while lining up and taking their shots. We are all here to have fun, but it’s more fun to focus and throw well.
If you are not sure of how a rule applies, feel free to play a provisional shot. Play the hole out both ways, record both scores, take pictures, and talk to Dave and I after the event.
Keep it in bounds! Play smart! Looking forward to seeing some hot scores.
