About this tournament
Welcome to the 2nd annual Nomadic Flight Open
For 2023 we have a two round C-Tier tournament on a temp course at Jungle Habitat in West Milford, playing on 18 portable DGA Mach 5 baskets. The layout will be very similar to last years and an overhead map as well as hole by hole caddie guide will be provided in the weeks leading up to the event.
A few notes about the course and park:
-Our permit doesn't allow for modification of the site which means some of the rough off of fairways will be very rough and serve as natural OB.
-Roped OB will be used on a single island hole with designated drop zone. There will also be ropes indicating the mandatory plane for one hole. All other holes will have no OB defined.
-Many holes play along old gravel safari roads or across large overgrown lots. I like to include this note so people are aware even though the feedback last year was that this was a non-issue. During play testing premium plastics have fared well but baseline plastics thrown hard have the potential to be chewed up more than usual.
-It's possible there will be some Bikers/Walkers present throughout the day. While less busy than a mixed use park they still have the right of way.
About the Venue
Jungle Habitat was a Warner Bros. owned Safari Theme Park open from 1972 to 1976. After years of neglect the site is now administered by Ringwood State Park and home to numerous mountain biking trails and a popular spot for dog walkers. Pro payouts will be handled day of, after all cards have come in and scores are finalized.
Am Player Packs
This years players pack will be build-your-own style with even more options than last year. Ams will choose a Putter ( Challenger / Roach ), Midrange ( Zone / Buzzz SS ), and Driver ( Heat / Raptor / Thrasher / Force / Nuke ). The 2023 tournament stamp is a retro theme (see pictures) with a limited number of 2022 stamped discs available to select as well. Packs will be assembled ahead of time to speed up the check in process so feel free to indicate color preferences in the notes during registration and we'll do our best to accommodate. Extra discs will also be available for purchase.
Volunteers
If you'd like to volunteer rather than play we'd be happy to have you. Volunteer duties will mostly include spotting on select holes. Volunteers will be provided Breakfast, Coffee, and Lunch, as well as an event stamped disc.
Raffle
Each Am participant will get a ticket for the raffle as part of the player's pack. Raffle items so far include an Innova HeroPack, Axiom Watermelon Shuttle, and an Upper Park Shift. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $5.
CTP
There will be an all Am CTP during both rounds on hole 15. CTP prizes TBD
Ace Pot
An optional $5 Ace Pot will be available during registration.
