Should I plan on putting ribbons on discs, or will the area be shoveled/plowed?

Tad Reiner   March 4, 2023 at 4:36am

Holes are very short. roughly 60'-200'. That being said, we got a lot of snow. Better safe than sorry.

Tad Reiner    Sticky March 4, 2023 at 3:07am

Hi Everyone! We apologize for the radio silence while we were getting everything situated. NEW YAK CITY IS STILL A GO! However, there are some adjustments.

Due to safety being our #1 concern, the tournament will take place solely DOWNTOWN. No Hawthorne. Only 1 pool. And we eliminated potentially hazardous holes to a 12 hole layout. So, that being said here's the format:

12 holes downtown
4 rounds
9am flex to 11am start time
As a card fills up, we'll send them out starting on h ... more

Side note: she said she didn't get a fax about it, which struck as odd that they are fax reliant at a hospital. Moments later she received a memo via carrier pigeon. Lastly, how do people get into the sky-chair in the video. Thank you.

Tad Reiner   March 4, 2023 at 3:48am

lmao Hospital Lady was on a power trip. We actually liked the audible hole we made last year so much that we kept it lol

Tad Reiner   March 4, 2023 at 3:49am

And it's a small loft. Its up there for the cat to get away from the baby and bring it down to rock him to sleep (the baby, not the cat)

Thank you for taking care of me. Almost killed myself dealing with that snow removal. Way to old for the heavy stuff. See you next year as long as we don't get a storm the night before.

You got it Bob! Hopefully no storm like that again, have a good one and I'll catch you on the course!

Curtis Stimac    March 5, 2023 at 1:06am

Gotta say that it turned out to be a great tournament. Loved the entire thing being downtown being able to grab a drink and lunch in between rounds without being rushed was perfect. Would love it to be like this in the future. Glad almost everyone made it out to play today.

It's 2:20 in the morning and I still have 6 hours of work. You should give refunds for those that can't play. If not you will be dealing with me in the very near future. Bob Turner# 6167

Stunning and Brave

Vincent Cocciolone    March 3, 2023 at 10:09pm

I'll play in the snow. :-)
But I don't judge those who won't. ;-)

Dallas DeGrendel   March 3, 2023 at 10:50pm

It's not the playin. It's getting there from 1:20 minutes normal weather driving.

Dan Blackwell   March 3, 2023 at 11:22pm

This is the problem. My car won't make the hour trek to pontiac as it is right now, no shot it makes it down the street after snow all night.

John Krug    March 3, 2023 at 9:46pm

We playing tomorrow no matter the snow level right?

u know it lol

Jacob Foulkrod    March 3, 2023 at 9:16pm

Also we must keep in mind how hard it is on the TD to reschedule these types of events. Especially when part of the tournament deals with the city of Pontiac itself. Not to mention all the sponsorships and volunteers for this event. I’d think a cancellation is more likely than a reschedule at this point. I respect either decision they make but we have to look at this from both angles.

Dan Blackwell   March 3, 2023 at 9:19pm

I hear ya, and would definitely but sadly accept cancelation if rescheduling isn't an option <3

Dallas DeGrendel   March 3, 2023 at 9:23pm

My request is purely for selfish reasons. I love playing this event. I just don't see a way I could if the snows like they say it will. I don't expect it to be done, it's more of a pipe dream.

Dan Blackwell    March 3, 2023 at 9:07pm

Rescheduling sounds soooooo good right now! I understand the "you never know in michigan" optimistic mindset, but cmon just look at the radar... Not trying to kill myself to get there or seriously injure myself playing in this. Please postpone!

Dallas DeGrendel    March 3, 2023 at 7:30pm

They updated the weather report the wrong way.. I was hoping it would not be too bad... 8" - 12" now. I live in Owosso and don't think I could make it unless I leave right when the snow stops and that's if I could get through it at all.

I'm really hoping to hear about a reschedule or 2nd event, but I've held out hope all week, and I think I have to bow out. This is one of my favorite events to play in. Bummed.

Matthew Smith   March 3, 2023 at 8:30pm

To go off of Dallas’ comment, is it possible if not rescheduled you can open it up to refunds? I know it’s not optimal for planning, but right now driving sounds like it’s not going to be very safe and I don’t want to risk that and also my discs. I’m also very bummed as I was very excited for this event. Rescheduling would also be something I’m 100% down for.

Jacob Foulkrod   March 3, 2023 at 8:34pm

As of now we should definitely play it by ear. I do agree with the refund comment being available to us but how many times has the weather told us it’s gonna be 8+ inches and it ended up being 3 or less. We should be cautious going forward but I think we gotta let it play out

Dallas DeGrendel   March 3, 2023 at 9:25pm

I will still my alarm and hope forecasters do what they do and miss by a mile. Fingers crossed.

Jordan Sell    March 3, 2023 at 3:16pm

Will we be allowed to tape ribbons to our discs if needed for the deep snow? Don’t want to lose any of my babies.

Absolutely!

bob turner   March 3, 2023 at 5:14pm

Stop being so cheap Jordan!! LoL

Travis gentry    March 3, 2023 at 1:39pm

Is there any chance this is gonna be rescheduled

bob turner   March 3, 2023 at 1:47pm

That would be great as I tried to withdraw yesterday cause I have to deal with snow removal for over 10,000 people.

Jake "Kuba" Steinbrecher   March 3, 2023 at 2:13pm

I'm not thinking so but depending on the end time of the pending storm and the work of local DOT I anticipate we'll be cleaned up and ready to rock. Not knowing what will actually happen though we certainly can not rule it out.

Sheldon DeMarco Sr    March 2, 2023 at 6:14pm

So just to clarify we are going with the players pool not the about A B pool

Jake "Kuba" Steinbrecher   March 3, 2023 at 3:33pm

Not sure what you mean sir, pool A contains MA50 so your morning schedule should begin at Hawthorne for Check-In. If that's not your question message me and I'll get you your answer.

Stephan Maxe   March 3, 2023 at 3:55pm

I think he's referring to the fact that the about this tournament description at the top of comment page still says "Pool A: MPO,MP40,MP50, MA1, MA2, FPO, FA1" but the players tab has different divisions. Makes sense that the players tab is more up to date though.

Jay B    March 2, 2023 at 3:59pm

Is there any things we could possibly expect to change if we get the full amount of snow theyre calling for, like any plans for layout changes, would the city shut it down for safety reasons if they cant have roads/sidewalks cleared for the downtown round, stuff like that, etc?

Jay B   March 2, 2023 at 4:01pm

What about downtown parking? It could be unlikely they will be plowing the parking lot we have used in the past before we get there if they’re focused on roads and walkways

Jake "Kuba" Steinbrecher   March 2, 2023 at 6:37pm

Great point Jay! The layout was specifically designed to avoid roadways and lots this year, save a couple holes with contingency plans in the event something unexpected happens we should be good to go. The prep starting 2-3 am is not my favorite but we have a dedicated team of die-hard members ready ... more

Dan Blackwell    February 28, 2023 at 12:48pm

Is there an ace pool or any ctps we should plan to bring cash for? And what's the haps with payouts? Am I taking my cake home after hole 18 or do we have to wait for the other pool to finish and then meet at hawthorne? Also Tad is cute

I think that means we get to stroke tad now!

Jake "Kuba" Steinbrecher   March 1, 2023 at 4:34am

First of all, Tad is not just cute, he is the cutest. There will be an ace pool $5, a chainstar lite ctp $5 (all other ctps are included) and a monster raffle too! Bring cash. Payouts are cash as well, the payouts will be at Hawthorne after the second round yes, we have been working to get the final payout schedule and awards quicker than past years and I think we've made some real progress.

Thanks Jake!
