Melbourne Celebrates 2023
About this tournament
The Melbourne Disc Golf Club is excited to present the Melbourne Celebrates 2023 Tournament scheduled for July 29-30 at Llewellyn Park, Wantirna South, in the City of Knox.
The event will be two rounds of 18 holes using tee times in order to open it to as many players as possible. The tournament is an ADG and DGV tour event and a PDGA C tier event.
This is the second annual Melbourne Celebrates tournament and we plan to continue it for many years to come. It is a mid year event where we can look back on the year so far and celebrate our accomplishments while also looking forward to the great things ahead.
One of the aspects that the club is celebrating in 2023 is the many courses that have come online or in the works. The Melton course has been activated, we have a temporary course in Werribee, Livingstone Primary School is up and running, and the Ruffey Lake course has been upgraded to an 18-basket course, and on top of all that - the course at Bicentennial Park is expected to go in later this year.
In addition to these, our course development team are working with several councils to get temporary courses in so that the councils can evaluate the viability of Disc Golf in the area. The City of Knox is one of these councils, and ‘Melbourne Celebrates’ is a great opportunity to try out a new course and show your support for a permanent installation at Llewellyn Park.
The tournament committee is excited to be putting together a tournament that will be fun for all with a great course, some awesome players packs, heaps of prizes and cool trophies.
Anthony Pearsall and Jeff Brunsting are the tournament directors and Mike Van der Linden is also on the committee. Mike and Anthony have been working on a course layout that makes the best use of the space available and offers something for everyone. There are some long holes, some really tight lines and some holes that will make you think, "how am I going to get to that". Its going to be a lot of fun for everyone and we are looking forward to celebrating with you.
All amateur players will receive a players pack. The Pro divisions will be able to purchase the players back if there are any available after distribution to the Am players.
Public toilets are available on site at HQ.
Water is available at the Pavilion near the start of hole 1.
More information including accommodation, parking, public transport and food options in the area will be added to this info page in the coming weeks.
