Looking forward to tomorrow. The player packs have arrived and I thought I would update you with a couple of items for Saturday. Before I get to that though, if one or more of the players you registered is a junior player, could you please email me and confirm (I know some included a note during registration).
Picking Up Player Packs
Check-in begins at 9:00 at the pavilion at Poolside. You can pick up your player pack and select your two discs beginning at that time. In addition to selecting your disc weights and colors, you can pick which backpack, snapcap, water bottle, and towel you want. We will have sharpies on hand so you can label your discs. After you get your items, try out the disc and get a feel for how it flies.
Note on discs
The weighs and colors available are what Discraft sent and I have no control over that. While there is some variation (164-174 g), in part because it is a wider rimmed disc, there is less weight variety than past years. Because we have some junior players participating, I'm going to hold aside at least one of the lightest weight discs for each of them if they want it. Other than that, it will be first come, first serve.
Players meeting/picture at 9:45 AM
Layout and format
We will be using the 9 regular holes at Poolside and 9 safari holes for a round of 18 holes (play 2 rounds back to back, for total of 36 holes). This will involve using some permanent baskets twice and some temporary baskets. The rough layout is up on UDisc App (Poolside course - 2019 Discraft Ace Race) and I will have printed versions at the event. We've listened to comments from last year and shortened some of the safari holes, so they are more touch shots/better chances for aces.
Play starts at 10:00 AM. You can pick your own groups to play with, but we request that there be about 3-4 players in a group... and no more than 6. That way we aren't waiting for a massive group to finish.
Prizes
Top three finishers overall win prizes.
1st - Tournament bag, graffiti towel, and winners disc
2nd - 3 Discraft discs, graffiti towel
3rd - 1 Discraft disc, graffiti towel
We also will give a winners disc to the top womens player and top junior player.
