Welcome to the 2024 Kanza Krush presented by Innova
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE EMAIL. IT CONTAINS INFORMATION YOU NEED FOR THE TOURNAMENT.
If you are receiving this email because you used your email when signing up another player for the event, please forward this info to that player.
THANK YOU SPONSORS:
Thank you to Innova Champion Discs. They provided the Ace Fund prizes and help support the event with fundraising discs.
DIVISIONS / DATES:
Everyone is playing two rounds on Saturday, September 7th on a shotgun start. Round one hole assignments have been posted at link below before Friday afternoon.
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/76929
Pool A (Long Pads) which includes the Open, Pro 50, Advanced, Advanced 40+ and Advanced 50+ will start at Kanza Park.
Pool B (Short Pads) which includes Intermediate, Recreational, Advanced 60+, and all Women will start at Forest Park.
LATE WITHDRAWAL / NO-SHOW
At this point, it is too late to receive a refund. However, if you notify me at 785-764-2229 prior to tee time, you will still receive your player pack for an Amatuer. It’s not required, but I appreciate the heads up. No call, no show forfeits your player pack and entry fee.
To cancel, text or call your name and division, with a comment you are canceling to 785-764-2229.
PARKING -
Kanza Park - while I did not get express permission this year, in the past it has never been a problem to park in the business lots near Hole 18 or the parking lot to the south of the road right before pulling into the park.
Forest Park - there are various spots to park throughout the course. I would recommend parking near the baseball diamonds. Please do not park along any of the fairways as sometimes players like to throw over the out-of-bounds lines.
RESTROOMS
Kanza Park has a portable restroom.
Forest Park has public restrooms that will be open.
CHECK-IN
Check-in is from 8:00 am - 8:30 am at the course you start at near the shelter for Hole 1 at Forest and the (only) shelter at Kanza.. All players, Pro and Am, need to check in. If you don’t check in, I will presume you are a No Call, No Show and you may be scratched from the event. Tee time for round one will be 8:45 AM.
SCORING
We will be using the PDGA digital scoring system. (This is not Udisc). To access it, go to pdga.com/score. Enter in the password, then your last name or PDGA number, and the card will pull up. I will have paper scorecards as a backup. You can also use udisc as a backup. However, to submit the scores, it needs to be done through the PDGA scoring system.
Password: kanza10
CADDY BOOK
Hole lengths, pars, and OB rules are listed in the PDGA app while you are keeping score. You can also go to this link to find each course set up here:
Kanza: KANZA KRUSH KANZA PARK OB RULES
Forest: KANZA KRUSH FOREST PARK OB RULES
COURSE CONDITIONS
Both courses have been mowed well and are dry.

You can research the discs here:
https://www.innovadiscs.com/disc-golf-discs/
Additionally, you will be able to choose 2 of the 3 following items OR a $15 voucher redeemable at Maverick’s brick and mortar store (not online).
Maverick baseball cap
Maverick socks (S/M only)
Birdie bag
Glencairn glass with Maverick logo
MA3 and Juniors will also receive a leather Maverick DG coaster / mini
WATER
While there will be at least one water cooler on each course near tournament central, I fully expect they will go dry at some point. They will be refilled as soon as possible, but you need to be prepared to bring enough water for yourself. The water on the course is a back-up.
IF YOU NEED TO WITHDRAW
If you decide for any reason that you don’t or can’t play the second round, please tell Rob, the Tournament Director or Matthew the Assistant TD. This is crucial as it will affect others on how the second round is organized.
LUNCH BREAK / ROUND 2
We will have an approximately 1 hour lunch break after the last card is completed before starting round 2. You will be moving to the other course for the second round. It is quite possible that Round 2 tee time will not be the same for each pool. You can find your hole assignment and tee time for the second round at the pdga event page:
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/76929
ACE / CTP FUND
If you paid into the ace fund during registration you are included in this. If you didn’t, you can sign up when you check in if you want to. If neither applies, skip to next section.
Thank you for participating into the Ace Fund. With all Maverick DG events, the Ace fund is paid out as large ticket items and not as cash. This is one of the ways MavDG is ‘maverick’ and it helps to pay for tournament expenses. I determine the payout items so that what is given out is approximately 150% in value to what was paid in so both the winner and the tournament benefits.
Each pool will have their own Ace Funds and the CTPs will be done on the course you finished at. This will help to facilitate the CTP throw off as quickly as possible and if you did not win additional payout (next section) you can leave the event.
PRIZES: (prizes are based on what was paid in for each pool but exceeds 150% of what was paid in)
Pool Short prizes:
Innova Traveler basket ($170)
Innova Safari bag ($99)
Prodigy retriever ($36)
Pool Long prizes:
MVP Disc Station shelving system ($180)
Kastaplast Hiva messenger bag ($55)
Please note: If there is a tie for first place in your division, we may start the CTP game before your playoff is done. I realize that this policy has changed in the past and I’m trying to be consistent with it. If you super duper rather play the CTP game than for the First Place Trophy, you can always forfeit the playoff. I would ask you though - why are you playing in a tournament if not to win the prize of First Place?
AWARDS / PAYOUTS
We will not have a formal awards ceremony. The awards will be given to the winner after the second round at the course you finish.
PRO PAYOUTS can be either a check picked up the same day, a check mailed to you, or PayPal Goods and Services (winner pays fees) based on what you chose during registration. The Pros will finish at Forest Park where Rob will be directing.
AM PAYOUTS have the choice of the following:
Redeemed at the Olathe store before the end of the year
Online code to be used at my webstore maverickdiscgolf.com. If you choose the webstore, it will charge you shipping and sales tax on what is beyond the payout code.
As a reminder, All Recreational Divisions and all Junior Divisions are player pack and trophy only with no additional payout.
PDGA POSTING
My goal is to have the 'official' results posted to the PDGA by Sunday evening, 9/8 so they will be included in the September’s rating update.
THANK YOU
I want to sincerely thank you for choosing to play in Maverick Disc Golf events, and particularly the Kanza Krush. If you are a first timer, I hope you enjoy it!
