Hello competitors,
Charles here, your TD for this weekend’s Doubles Marathon benefitting LR Parks.
I’ve just received a call from the LR Parks Department informing me that the bridge at Hindman Park is flooded and that the park will be closed tomorrow.
Obviously, this is not what any of us wanted to hear - I know we were all looking forward to playing. Based on the limitations of moving an event of this size to a new location close to the event date, we will not be having the event tomorrow.
What’s Happening With The Event?
After reviewing the Arkansas Disc Golf Calendar, I have made the tough decision to cancel this event. As many of you know, I work for the DGPT and also run the Arkansas State Championship with Baker Helton, which is our biggest event of the year - my work, plus planning for the State Championship, will take up the rest of this spring and this was the weekend that worked well, sadly.
Can I Get A Refund?
Absolutely. That being said, this is a charity event, and if you’d like to donate your entry fee to the LR Parks Disc Golf Fund, you may do so. Otherwise, please request a refund via disc golf scene, and I will refund you. I will be processing refunds as I can while at work today. If you want to donate your entry, you can just leave your registration as is. If I don’t hear from you this weekend, I’ll assume you want to donate it.
What’s Happening With The Raffle?
We’ve collected a large number of fantastic raffle items for this event. I’m happy to say that we will now be including that raffle as a part of the State Championships this year. Huge thanks to 13 Peaks, Perks and Re-Creation, Holy Roller, and all who have donated raffle items. The raffle will still benefit the LR Parks Disc Golf Fund when it runs in June.
I know this isn’t fun, but sometimes events are canceled. As a TD, the weather is the one thing I can’t control.
