Let Freedom Fly 3.0
Let Freedom Fly started our as a Veterans for Vet tournament a few years ago and has evolved into own veteran event since then. We want to continue helping our local veterans and this year we plan on doing this by helping one of our own veteran club members. Life doesn’t always go as planned but receiving a cancer diagnosis can be devastating. It was only a few years ago that Jan Tilley’s world was turned upside down.
Jan is an Army veteran and found his way back to disc golf in 2017. He is currently an active member of the Vets Disc Golf Club and the Colonial Disc Golf Club. In 2019, he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Since that time, surgery removed a large tumor and Jan will be starting his third year of chemotherapy treatments in February. The treatments are tough enough and the medical bills just adds insult to injury. We want to help Jan by raising funds to help cover some of his medical bills.
This will be a one-day tournament with two rounds at Newport News Park Disc Golf Course. We are also setting up a putting contest and a silent auction with the proceeds going to Jan. CTP prizes and merchandise payout for all Amateur divisions.
