First of all, thank you for attending the Lakeview Classic! I have been wanting to run a tournament here for a few years now and am beyond excited to have it come to fruition! We had an overwhelming flow of local support for the event so I want to give some recognition to our sponsors: Kopetsky’s Ace Hardware, First Premier Bank of Wakonda, 9th Street Clothing Co., Truxedo, The Ace Coalition, Hydro Extrusions, Charlie’s Pizza/Chuck Stop, Denise Bosco and Breast Cancer Awareness Month ... more
First of all, thank you for attending the Lakeview Classic! I have been wanting to run a tournament here for a few years now and am beyond excited to have it come to fruition! We had an overwhelming flow of local support for the event so I want to give some recognition to our sponsors: Kopetsky’s Ace Hardware, First Premier Bank of Wakonda, 9th Street Clothing Co., Truxedo, The Ace Coalition, Hydro Extrusions, Charlie’s Pizza/Chuck Stop, Denise Bosco and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Mark and Allison Bosco, Badlands Sports Cards, O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, Ehresmann Engineering, Backspace Brewing Co., Bro Burger and River’s Edge! Altogether these sponsors helped us provide $1,975 in added cash to this event, so show them some love before you leave town if possible! I would also like to extend a thank you to Hawk’s Heartland BBQ for catering and providing us with a delicious lunch during our break tomorrow! They hooked it up and now EVERYONE’s meal will be free tomorrow, not just Ams!
Check-In is from 8:00am-9:00am tomorrow morning inside the Clubhouse. Please check-in on time to give ample time to get golf carts distributed and situated. There are two seats to a cart, so most will be doubled up with the exception 5 3 person cards. Given that we are in golf carts, it is not a disc golf cart friendly course. Please bring a backpack to ensure proper space on the backside of the carts!
Course Etiquette: Please DO NOT drive on or near any of the tee pads/greens. If you haven’t driven a golf cart before, please ask myself or Mark Bosco if you have any questions about operation. There shouldn’t be much for dew in the morning and I ensured that the sprinkler system be shut off tonight to avoid super slippery conditions tomorrow, but drive with caution on hillsides as there is a great deal of elevation throughout the course. Please follow all designated cart paths to help prevent additional wear and tear of the fairways.
We will use PDGA live scoring for the event. Please have someone set up a uDisc card as a backup to double check scores before you finalize. The course is listed on uDisc. Please ensure that whoever is running live scoring does indeed finalize the scores at the end of the round. There is an icon next to everyone’s name that is a circled exclamation point. You must click on the icon and enter the player’s last name or PDGA# in order to finalize the round. If the scores for the card aren’t finalized within 30 minutes of the round ending, everyone on the card receives a 2 stroke penalty, so don’t be afraid to double check with the person doing the scoring!
All MPO will be paid out via Paypal, so please ensure that the email provided through discgolfscene.com is the email connected to your paypal or let us know at check-in if you would prefer payouts sent to an alternate address.
Amateurs will be script payouts. Vending will be done by Kopetsky’s Ace Hardware and Dakota Disc. Dakota Disc will be onsite with a wonderful variety of disc golf brands available. Unfortunately, due to staffing issues, Ace Hardware is unable to bring merchandise out to the course. However, they have a wonderful selection at their store location: 2404 Broadway Ave in Yankton. They give you the full run of the store so you are not just limited to disc golf, anything from North Face clothing to Oakley’s and much more, so please visit the store and spread the love to both of our wonderful vendors as they both do so much for Yankton Disc Golf!
We will provide everyone with a Caddy Book in the morning which will contain the full course description as well as a map in case you haven’t had the chance to play the course prior to the event.
Please everyone do your best to watch all of your cardmates throw so you can aid in recovering any discs that might go into the OB. Most of the course has a wood line on at least on side of the holes so be alert to ensure pace of play is kept in check. Follow the PDGA 3 minute timer rule if a disc is not able to be found right away. It is a long course so I estimate at least 3-3.5 hour rounds and the better job everyone does at keeping track of each other’s shots, the smoother things run for everyone.
Mark Bosco and myself will be playing in the tournament so we can answer any questions that might arise once the rounds are over. If there is an issue the card cannot decide on as a whole, please take a picture of the lie in question, play a provisional and we will make a ruling after reviewing the picture in question! However, in case of an emergency feel free to call either of us as our numbers are listed on the Caddy Book in the unlikely circumstance that something were to arise.
Lastly, thank you to Lakeview Golf Course for allowing us to use this beautiful property to throw plastic on! This is our 3rd year setting the course up and hopefully we can make this tournament an annual event going forward!
Good luck to everyone and we will see you in the morning!
