Hello Galen, please see comment below...all of these course owners/operators are pouring tons of work and resources into these properties. Building and maintaining these high ranking properties is expensive and risky. If you would like to continue to have such venues available and in good condition please consider this an opportunity to support the efforts of Cedar Creek, Newcastle and Haute Goat.

Is the implication that the owners/operators didn't pour work into these courses prior to the other events with more modest pass through fees? That doesn't make sense to me. Ontario players, myself included, are happy to pour money (and time) into supporting the great courses we benefit from, that's not the issue, the issue is that these fees are greatly out of whack with the fees for other, comparable tournaments, and the lower registration you're seeing for this event seems to suggest others have similar frustration about such a low portion of entry fees going to the players'/prize pool.

I don't know how much mowers and things cost but all three of these courses are great in their own way and seem to have come about different ways. I think it's a good thing but if you don't want to pay or don't see value I understand, it's not a huge deal right....

Everytime i play each of them they are noticeably better, different, effort-fully changed and maintained , check em out! If it's too much, take a pass but don't push the narrative of negativity unless you are out east slinging.

I don't appreciate feedback and questions being construed as "negative". It implied that asking questions and making your own decisions is not encouraged. It also was not made clear what the 80$ pass through fees was until about 20 hours before registration so it's a bit of a hot topic. People shouldn't be told that they are pushing any narrative when they are deciding how to spend their hard earned money. Asking questions and discussions should ALWAYS be encouraged.

Obviously you can go to the states and play courses that have been in the ground for decades and have enough reputation to draw hundreds of players with pay to play, that is still growing up here so I think we need to embrace it. Also the language is a big thing..."What's going on with the passtrhu fees?" is not the same as "can you please explain where the fees are going?" I don't know the timing of the changes to the explainations but it all seems reasonable to me and I for one am happy to pay for these coures. I think they are great and I think if we do, we'll see it back 10x. But i don't care about winning $$ or getting more discs or merch. White spruce and Bronte did amazingly, their communities came together to put on great events. I am an outsider, but i also have to admit that i was not only responding to these comments here but also the FB thread. I'll shut up now, i'm just a noob really, ya'll know way more than me. CC is awesome, newcastle folks are great, HG and Darryl are trying super hard to make something special that appeals to Pros south of the border for his upcoming RIP tourney. It's pretty cool and I hope we don't discourage it over a few dollars here and there. Truly if they looked at maintenance the frugal way we wouldn't get anywhere i feel.

Possibly some people have had issue with where the money went in the past and want to have the TDs held accountable. Maybe one of the TDs has made comments about loosing his "profit" when people hit an ace. Maybe the pdga even had to be contacted just for us to get this pass through fee breakdown. Maybe don't install a course and rely solely on money from events to maintain it. I am going to a fundraiser event instead of this because money for players is not what this is about.

Course owners/operators always put in extra work prior to tournaments and typically are present on-site for the day to ensure all goes well, the course is also closed to walk-on play for the event, exclusive use for most private venues comes at a premium regardless of what activity you engage with, be it a pickleball court or restaurant. Walk-on day pass users play independently and use the property with modest or no engagement from staff/course operators.

Four Fathers open this weekend at Newcastle has green fees of $15 for TWO rounds. Its Shotgun start so i assume the course will be closed for walk ons and they always have great staff without the overcharge.

Hi Jane, I've updated the schedule, until we have a sense of registration we can't commit to who plays where on Saturday...but you will play each course. They are quite close to each other.

As an update, all players will be at the same course at the same time because numbers have permitted it. Cedar Creek in the morning Saturday, Newcastle in the afternoon.

Hello Jake, you are correct, this event is being hosted at three pay to play venues that will be preparing the courses for tournament play. Tournament play includes exclusive use of the course for the day and the staffing and organizational efforts to facilitate such events. All three venues must close their properties to 'walk-on' clients for the day.
