Golden Rule
- Please be respectful, both while communicating and on the course.
- The goal of this tournament is to meet and connect with people you might not usually play with.
- Be an ambassador of the sport. Make a good impression. Remember to have fun.
Format
- This will be a head-to-head match play bracketed tournament.
- There will be 3 divisions: Each division will compete in their own tournament bracket.
- General - For your more casual disc golfers looking for some competition.
- Red - Competitive disc golfers rated below 900
- Gold - Competitive division for those rated 900+
- All divisions will be paid in cash.
Match Play Definition
- Match play is different than stroke play
- Every hole that is won (scored better than your opponent) scores 1 point.
- Strokes do not carry over to the next hole and the points are NOT cumulative like a skins match.
- Player with the most points through 18 holes wins.
- Tiebreakers go to a sudden death playoff - next point wins.
Seeding
- Players will be seeded based on PDGA rating.
- If no PDGA rating is provided, that's okay! There will be a random draw factoring in regional location to determine the seed of those players.
Course Selection
- The larger seed # (lower rated players) will get to choose the course from the approved list of options. - See other tab for list.
- If your opponent has your same region, you choose from that mutual region course list.
- If your opponent has a different region, you choose from the central region's course list.
- The smaller seed # can veto up to one course for whatever reason. (travel time, bad juju, length of play, etc)
- If the first course was vetoed, the higher seed will then choose another course from within the region and you will play there.
- Vetoes apply to the course (meaning you veto the venue/park as a whole) (Ex. Idlewild means both MPO, FPO, ETC.. tees were vetoed.)
- Players without a rating will automatically be classified as the "lower seed"
- If both players do not have a rating, seeding will be determined by the random draw seeding at the start of the event.
Tee Selection
- Every course will default to the shortest permanent tees unless otherwise requested.
- Players may agree to play any available tee pads, but please specify when selecting the course.
- Tees must be announced during course selection as it could weigh into veto decisions.
Course Particulars
- Follow PDGA rules.
- Hole particulars will default to what's on the tee sign. (Note that some tee signs might not have league O.B. listed)
- I highly recommend specifying O.B prior to the round beginning, and again at the beginning of each hole.
- Items to discuss, roads, fence lines, wires, sidewalks, creeks, ponds, rivers, parking lots, park/yard boundaries, MANDOS, drop zones, multiple baskets.
- It is up to the players to determine course particulars/layouts/OBs.
Playing Outside Your Region
- Players can play any course in the world if they both agree to it. (Doesn't have to be a Cincinnati course.)
- Failure to agree outside of the region does not count as a veto.
Scheduling Matches
- Each round will be played at the players' mutual convenience.
- Each player is required to communicate with their opponent to coordinate time and location for their match.
- These matches will typically happen in the evening or weekends. It's up to you to find a time that works.
- Please try to schedule your match to be played at your earliest convenience, ideally within a two week window of knowing your opponent.
- Players can reach out to me if you're having trouble reaching your opponent or struggling to find a time (sometimes schedules just don't work out)
- If a player is unavailable for a significant amount of time, they are subject to a forfeit/DQ. Ideally we can work through it.
Elimination
- The player that loses the match play round will be eliminated (obviously)
- If both players do not complete their round within the timeframe set, both players will be eliminated.
Byes
- If your opponent decides they don't want to participate, you will get a bye.
Payouts / Cash Structure
- Players will earn $40 ($10 for General Division) each round they win.
- Payouts will be sent upon each player's elimination.
