TOURNAMENT POSTPONED TO SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH DUE TO RAINY AND SLICK CONDITIONS
Welcome to the 2022 King Rotary Classic Space Race! We are excited to host this event at the brand new 9-hole disc golf course at Recreation Acres located in King, NC. This is also a fundraising event for our new Rotary Satellite Club so please come out and support us! An information flyer will be handed out to each participant to show our mission and how we help our community.
For this event, your entry fee covers your Players Pack, which contains BOTH:
Eclipse Glow Hex (5 5 -1 1)
This is an incredible midrange disc that has the Buzzz watching over its shoulder as the best mid in the game. The Hex is a straight to stable mid that holds any line you put it on and with the Eclipse Glow plastic, it might just have that stability to hold those huge arms too.
Eclipse Glow Pilot (2 5 0 1)
An amazing micro beaded putter that has the stability to hold up to a ton of torque off the tee and glide for days, as well as a great feel in the hand to dial in those putts near the basket.
These will be the only two discs each player is allowed to use for this particular tournament.
We will be playing the 9-hole course twice (18 holes total), in an Ace Race format. Instead of typical stroke-play scoring, we will be using a point system that the player will be able to accrue in multiple ways:
Ace = 10 points
Chain hit = 5 points
Metal hit = 3 points
Birdie = 1 Point
Players will get two throws, 1 with each disc, from the tee box. Also, 1 additional throw if an ace was not achieved off the drive from 1 of the 2 locations of either drive to attempt a birdie (2).
Points do accumulate off the tee. Examples:
Both discs are Aces from the tee = 20 points
Both discs hit metal from the tee = 6 points
1 disc hits for an Ace and 1 disc grazes the chains from the tee = 15 points
Disc wedged outside basket = 10 points/Ace
Disc resting on top of basket = 3 points
After all players in the group have thrown their 2nd shot for birdie, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the 10-18 on the card to record the round.
Tee Locations:
Advanced: Throw from original tee with the exception of holes 6 & 7 having shorter temporary marked tee boxes.
Intermediate: Throw from a shortened temporary tee on holes 1-8, hole 9 will be played from original tee.
Recreational/Ladies/Juniors: Throw from an even shorter temporary tee on holes 1-8, hole 9 will be played from original tee.
All temporary tee locations will be marked with color coded stakes & signs to help the player see where to throw from depending on which division they signed up for.
This will be a flex start style event. Participants may arrive anytime between 10am and 2pm to play the round.
Players will be allowed to create your own card. Minimum 2 players/card, max 4 players/card. Groups of 2-4 will be put together in order of check-in within your division. If you wish to play with certain friends please add a note when registering with their names, show up together or check them in with you.
Practice:
The course will have all the temporary tee boxes & signs in place 1 week prior to the event start date. This will help any player get a feel for the course, determine which division they would be most comfortable in and, most importantly, practice on their Aces!
Prizes:
1st place in each division will receive a beautiful trophy handmade by one of our members of the Rotary Satellite Club. They will also receive an exclusive Watermelon Paradox disc only available at these events as well as getting to pick 1 disc from the MVP Lab seconds disc box.
2nd place in each division will also be able to choose 1 disc from the MVP Lab seconds disc box.
JUST ADDED
Didn't come in first in your division and win an exclusive Watermelon Paradox disc but still want one? Not to worry, we will have a CTP throw off as players finish their round for a chance to win. What division you signed up for will determine how far away from a temporary basket you will throw. Each player will use their player pack discs and will be allowed one throw with each. Closest to the pin in each division at the end of the day will recieve a Watermelon Paradox disc. Distances are as follows:
Advanced: 250 ft.
Intermediate: 225 ft.
Recreational/Ladies/Juniors: 200 ft.
