Did you spend last year thinking "I wish we had more local tournaments, I hate driving 3 hours all the time"? Well we have great news. Van Man Discs will be hosting 5 unsanctioned tournaments to compliment our sanctioned schedule. The 5 tourneys will be called the "King of the Courses".
We will host 1 tourney every month for 5 months this year. We will rotate the location around the local area (Portsmouth, Ashland, Huntington and Barboursville).
Now for the details:
You can play one, or play them all. Each individual tourney will be paying out 90-95% of the entry fee in payout and players packs that day. We will only be taking out $3 from each entry to put into the end of year series payout. We are purposefully keeping the series money very small so that if you want to simply play 1 or 2 tourneys, you don't feel like much of your money is going to the series. These tourneys will run just like all the other PDGA sanctioned events that Van Man does. 2 rounds with a players pack and normal 40-50% of the field payout.
The series will operate in a very simply manner. Anyone who plays in any events will have their points tracked. For the series payout, we will be paying 25% of the largest field from the 7 tourneys in each division.(min of 3 positions paid). Ex: if the intermediate division had a field of 20 people at the biggest event, then we will be paying 5 positions in the series.
The points will be given out as follows:
If 10 people are in your division in the first event, first place will get 1 pt, 2nd 2 pts, 10th 10 pts. Anyone who has played an event but is not present, will get 11 pts (last place that day plus 1 pt). This allows everyone to be eligible for the series without requiring your attendance at a certain number of events. less
