KALAMAZOO LADIES CLASSIC 2020:
Thank you for coming to this year’s Kalamazoo Ladies Classic. Obviously, things are different this year. We are going to try our best to hold this tournament during a pandemic. We are going to take some precautions and ask that you cooperate with us and also, are patient as we do our best to limit contact between people during this event. We ask that you practice social distancing and try and maintain a 6’ distance from others. That you use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when around others and when handling tournament equipment and merchandise. We also request that you respect others and their wishes in regards to their comfort level of exposure. If they ask you to move a little further away, just move a little further away.
There is no player’s meeting. This letter will work as your meeting. If you have any questions, please feel free to come ask them. Also please look for our postings of tournament information on the bulletin board as the day goes on. Everyone will be provided this letter, 2 scorecards, and a pencil in their player’s packages. These are your scorecards for each of the 2 rounds today. Your hole assignment will be on the leader board as usual. When you get to your hole put your name on the top line of one of the scorecards. Leave a space and put another player from you group on the next line. Please make sure that everyone in the group has another person in the group keeping their score in addition to their own. You will keep your score as well as that other person’s during the round. No exchanging scorecards during the round. When the round is over, make sure that everyone compares and agrees on the scores before handing them in. We will only use the top person’s score on each card turned in. We are trying to prevent scorecards from exchanging hands as much as possible. You will be responsible for making sure that your scorecard gets turned in each round.
The 2-minute warning will be blown at 9:30am for the first round. Please make sure to be on your tee by then and that your group has figured out who is keeping who’s scores. The start of the second round will be posted. The posted time will be the time the 2-minute warning is blown.
Awards are also going to be different and for the amateurs it will take a little longer to get your stuff. There will not be a regular awards ceremony. A list of the winners and how much they won will be posted and when you collect winnings you will need to be checked off our list. The Pros will have their choice to collect cash at the event or have their money sent via PayPal. To limit how close people get while selecting their winnings from our merchandise we will call people to come and select what they want. It will only be a few people at a time and will be done according to how they finished and their divisions. So, if you place, please do not go far from tournament central. So, you can hear when we call you to get your stuff. We also request that you wear a mask and gloves while looking through things. If you don’t have a mask, we will have someone who does, assist you.
COURSE RULES AND OB’S:
In general, if you throw on or over pavement (paths or roads) or into water you are OB except where noted below. The posts along roads are not the OB lines, it is the pavement line that is the OB.
Hole 1: On the road or in the parking lot is OB. Over the road on the left is OB. There is an OB line inside the tennis courts. If a player is on the other side of the line inside the courts the player is OB and has to throw from the Drop Zone outside of the tennis courts in front of the basket. There are no mandatory doglegs!
Hole 2: The Long tee is inside the tennis courts and has no mandatory doglegs.
Hole 3: The long tee is from the road.
Hole 7: The short tee is from the marked area on the paved path on the other side of the bridge from the long tee.
Hole 8: The long tee has to drive over the paved path to the area where the basket is. The long tee is in an OB area.
Hole 11: The other side of the fence uphill from the basket is OB.
Hole 12: The playground area is OB.
Hole 15: The other side of the fence along the fairway is OB.
Hole 17: Landing on the paved path or road is OB. The area between the road and the path is safe!
Hole 18: Only the road islands where the tees and the basket are, are safe. Landing across the road on the left or right is OB as well as landing on the road.
Hole 19: The playground, pavilion, bathrooms, the pavement around them, and the paved “rink” area are OB.
Hole 21: Inside the tennis courts is OB.
Hole 23: Both the long and short tees are from the paved path. The long tee is closer to the previous hole and the short tee is further down the path.
Hole 24: The posts around the parking lot are OB. The actual OB line is on the parking lot side of the posts. So, the disc needs to be completely inside the parking lot. There is a Mandatory Dogleg on the corner of the parking lot nearest the fairway. It is marked with an orange arrow (there is more than 1 arrow and the closest one to the fairway is the Mando). The Drop Zone for missing the Mando is the short tee.
