KCDG Club Championship 2023
About this tournament
The annual club championship will be played on October 14th and 15th. While we do crown club champions, this event is for club members to gather and play disc golf; it is not PDGA-sanctioned, and it is a great way for new players to meet and compete in a low-stakes enviro
When & Where. On Saturday we will have 36 holes of golf at Heritage Disc Golf Course in Olathe, Kansas. Eighteen holes there then over to Birdland (Lakeside Hills). Shotgun starts will be at 9:00 am and approximately 1:30 pm. On Sunday, we will cross the state line to crown our champions at Wilbur Young Park in Blue Springs, Missouri, with 18 holes of championship golf. Participants that played both rounds on Saturday will be divided into flights based on their Saturday score and play on Sunday tee times. Members that did not play one or both rounds on Saturday can still compete on Sunday with flex starts between 10am and 3pm.
We encourage everyone to play all 3 rounds, but you can participate by playing any one round or any two round combination as well. The overall club champion will be the lowest gross score from any player who completed all 3 rounds. The women’s club champion will be the lowest gross score from any woman that played 2 rounds (The best two rounds from the three courses). Women are, of course, welcome to play all 3 rounds to compete for a higher overall placement (and better bag tag) or just to have fun.
There is no entry fee for the event; you only need to be a current club member through the end of 2023. You can check here for your current membership status. If you are not a current member, signing up now provides immediate membership extending throughout all of next year until December 31, 2024. What are the benefits of membership? First, your membership supports the all-volunteer organization that maintains our courses and coordinates our local events. Your membership also gets you discounts at all club leagues and events, and will earn you a current KCDG Bag Tag. We will award 2024 Bag Tags on the basis of your finish in this event; however you must renew through the end of 2024 in order to earn your Bag Tag rank.
Please Pre-Register. We are asking everyone who intends to play to pre-register on Disc Golf Scene. We are putting together a lunch option for those players gathering at Heritage after the morning round and it will help with structure and food prep to know a head count. There is no cost to pre-register. Just follow the link and let us know you are planning on playing, identify which rounds you plan to play, and let us know if you have any preference regarding who you want to play with in the unflighted rounds. If you are not a current member or wish to renew through the end of 2024, you can sign up on the club site, or choose the membership options under “Additional Items” on Disc Golf Scene.
