About this tournament

(Consultez la version française plus bas)

This September Four venues operated by that breed of disc golf enthusiast that succumbs to the need to build their own courses are inviting players from across Canada to compete at the Canadian Championship presented by Innova. The rough and rural landscape that stretches east of Toronto into Durham and Northumberland Counties and North into the Kawarthas will challenge and charm you at this annual championship. We are planning for 400-500 players to descend on this region in Ontario, making this one of the largest disc golf events in Canada.

The formal competition of this PDGA A-tier is scheduled for the weekend of September 12-14th, the off week between DGLO and GMC. However the action will start on the 10th with practice rounds and add-on fun like flex start tournaments and clinics. By Sunday evening we will declare National Champions in a diversity of amateur and professional divisions.

The four properties are:
Haute Goat - which will be the ‘tournament central’ - in Port Hope.
Newcastle Disc Golf - in Newcastle.
Cedar Creek Disc Golf - in Bowmanville.
Project15 - in Selwyn - just north of Peterborough.

The Canadian Championship will be more of a festival of disc golf than just a tournament for the best players. We will be making player experience on and off the course of prime importance. All of the course operators are working to ensure everyone gets to play a diversity of courses that are appropriate for their level of play. All of them take great pride in their properties and will be working hard all season to make sure the courses are well groomed and decked out to respect the effort and commitment made to travel for this event.

Thanks to Innova Disc Golf, our title sponsor, the CC will also be a qualifier for the United States Disc Golf Championship and the Throw Pink Women’s Disc Golf Championship. Along with that the CC is also scheduled as a DGPT Q-Series event again for 2025.

We will be doubling down on the post round action of the Innova Rip this past September by expanding the Glow Wombat Challenge and the Tracey Boards Crokinole Tournament to Friday and Saturday nights at Haute Goat. Both of these add-on events were a huge success and sold out this past September. You can expect a flymart at Haute Goat too. The Glow Wombat Challenge will be lit up by Disc in the Dark each night.

Plans are in the works for a welcome evening at another location on Thursday the 9th where players can reconnect with friends from across the country and enjoy some local hospitality. That evening may also become the start of the week’s skills competition. By Sunday we expect to crown a Canadian Putting Champions too.

Along with this part of Ontario having some of the best disc golf in Canada it is a tourism destination in its own right. There are plenty of places to stay and early September is typically the nicest part of summer here. Hot enough to swim and yet the apples are ready to harvest and the salmon are expecting you to watch them run up the local streams.

We plan to open registration for the Canadian Championship on February 2nd - Groundhog Day. Either way if you are planning to attend we suggest you look into accommodations soon, there are plenty of cottages, campgrounds and hotels in the region that would welcome you.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be updating this page with more information and the specific details expected for a PDGA A-tier event of this magnitude. We plan to structure the entry fees such that all your course fees for the week, including practice rounds, are included. Amateurs will be competing for glory as this is a trophy only event that will come with a great player pack and tournament experience. Professionals will be competing for glory, trophies and cash.

All of the course operators are working together to bring this event to you and we hope you all consider making the trip to our part of Ontario for what promises to be a Canadian Championship to remember.

Newcastle Disc Golf (Newcastle)
Cedar Creek Disc Golf (Bowmanville)
