Hello Disc Golfers!
We are super excited to have a record number of disc golfers out at Lake Walcott State Park for the Mad Pelican Open! We hope you have a blast!
First and foremost, thank you to Lake Walcott State Park for always being an exceptional place to play and hold events. Please treat the staff and rangers with the upmost respect and tell them THANK YOU for allowing us to take over the park this weekend. Please make sure to pay all the fees required to enter and camp at the park.
Thank you to our sponsors! Infinite Discs Tour is always hard at work. Also, Brad Merzlock, Michael Kennedy, and Michael Becerra. These sponsors allowed us to have $3000 added cash to the pro purse and some pretty cool custom player’s pack and payouts for the Ams. Thank you!
A special thank you to Colby Andersen and his family, who have always gone above and beyond to help me facilitate this event. Thank you so much!!
COURSE LAYOUT
We are playing 2 rounds of 22 holes. That is 1 round on tee times each day. The first day tee times will start at 9:00am. On Sunday, we will be starting an hour earlier at 8:00am so we can get you home early as possible. The course layout and caddy book can be found at
MAD PELICAN OPEN 5 CADDY BOOK LINK
Please remember that the picnic tables with concrete under them are not OB. They are part of the course which means you cannot get relief if a disc lands under them. You cannot stand on top of the table if your lie is underneath the table. Imagine it’s a big rectangle bush.
SCORING
Everyone is required to score for their group. The easiest way to do that is through the PDGA app or via the scoring link
PDGA DIGITAL SCORING LINK
The access code for this event is “pelican”. If you are not able to score electronically, you must pick up a paper scorecard at tournament central and record your scores manually like the heathen days of old. They must be turned in after the round and they must be counted and correct. If they are incorrect there is a 2 stroke penalty.
PLAYER’S PACKS
We have player’s packs available to pick up on Friday at 9:00am – 6:00pm. Also any time on Saturday or Sunday. Unfortunately, we do not have any extra player’s packs for sale. We will most likely have discs left over for sale on Sunday.
CAMPING
Lake Walcott State Park has been kind enough to reserve the camping only for disc golfers only! If you need camping spots, there may still be some available but you MUST call Lake Walcott directly. If you try to reserve through the online reservation portal you will be denied and probably will feel bad. There number is 208-436-1258. If there aren’t camping spots available, you can still get a grass spot on a first come first serve basis at the Boy Scout area. It is $10 per night per tent. There are a few fire rings over there. The Boy Scout area has a ton of room for camping but you cannot have a campfire without a fire ring.
RAFFLE AND OTHER FUN EVENTS
We are raffling off a custom Mad Pelican Open 5th Anniversary Innove Discatcher Pro 28 basket on Saturday night among some other cool items! The raffle starts at 7:30 at the Klebe Pavillion. Afterwards, we will be holding our FREE 7-on-the-line putting competition. This is free for everyone even if you are not playing in the event. Bring a putter and we will explain the rules. There will be $25 to our store for the top finisher in each skill category (Recreational, Intermediate, Advanced/Open). The top three from each division will then go into a finals round for a chance to win a premium disc golf bag.
Ace Pot. $475 has carried over from last year’s Mad Pelican Open. That will be added to this year’s ace pot. If an ace is not hit, it will carry over to next year. If there is more than one ace hit, they will split the pot evenly. The current ace pot is at $955 but may change as we have registration change.
Cash CTP’s – There are 5 cash CTP’s on the course. 2 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. These are only for player’s who have paid into the cash CTP’s. Each hole is currently valued at $95.00.
AWARDS
On the final day, we will be having awards ceremonies per each division as the divisions complete playing. We have trophies for 1st place in every division. 2nd place for divisions that have 5 or more players, and 3rd place for divisions that have 10 or more players. Open divisions will be paid via PayPal unless you have arranged something different (like eggs). Am divisions will be paid in Infinite Discs Tour credits. Any credits not used the at the event will be available to use online. If there is a playoff needed, the hole playoff order will be hole 3, hole 4, hole 2, and repeated if needed. A coin will be tossed to decide the order and then each playoff hole will alternate playing order.
See you this weekend!!!
