46th SHERANDO OPEN
(Previously the SPARTAN)
New name and logo (Incoming) for 2025 and it will remain the same from here on out. I want to return to the roots of the event - honor and show the well deserved respect of all of those that began the tradition when disc golf historically first started.
PDGA —- PRO C-TIER —- AM B-TIER
In 1979 the first event at Sherando was held at the old course across the street. Rusty Creasy and Jeff Kraemer were involved since day one and up until they passed the torch to me to carry on the annual tradition many years ago.
There are numerous famous disc golfer that have passed through Stephens City over the years. Beyond Rusty and Jeffs fame - you can see Big Daddy, Carlton Howard, Joe Mela, Craig Gangloff, Mike Moser and more - Local legends like Clark "Claw" Putman, Billy Hughes. If you recognize anyone in the pics, let me know.
Since I took over, there have been many big time players as well. Ricky Wysoki, Raven Newsom, James Conrad, Jay(Yeti) + Des Reading and Ted Williams to name a few. Of course, so many more local celebs like Andrew Fish, Cody Bradshaw and the Shileys' come out to tear the place up currently.
I am forgetting many, so shout them out in the comments if you like...
Sherando will be ready for all of you and if you are nice, maybe the 40mph winds and snow may spare you. Yet, would that really be any fun?

COURSE FLOW will be:
1-15 HoleX 16-18 HoleY = 20 HOLES (Directional signs will be present)
Tee-Pad RELIEF on ALL HOLES marked by Flags.
The COVID BOOM has died down and I have made this event one day - if we get a huge waitlist of 30+ players, I will return the event to a two day affair in 2026.
