Ryan if you are available this coming weekend either Saturday or Sunday I can walk you thru the course at Hodag Park or even Pioneer Park? I am always off every weekend.

OK, I spoke with someone who knows the Mayor of Rhinelander personally and they asked him if he would be in favor of someone having a tournament at Hodag ? Pioneer Parks and he said; Yes!! just need to fill-out a Special Events application at City Hall. They will put a hold on whatever date you woul ... more

Ryan Peterson   October 16 at 1:22am

That's great, Stu! Let's chat more about how we can best host a tournament there.

Stu Gierach   October 22 at 1:09pm

I can stop at City Hall and pickup a Special Events application for you. I can give that to you on the 30th if you are still available to come into town? Besides Hodag Park, we can even use Pioneer Park also?

Bryan Mirr    October 3 at 8:53pm

Can people register the day of?

Logan Bucki   October 4 at 9:55am

I 2nd Bryan's question

Ryan Peterson   October 4 at 2:19pm

Sure can! We'll have registration on-site!

Logan Bucki   October 4 at 5:25pm

Awesome I'll be there! Thank you

Stu Gierach    October 3 at 12:36pm

For those of us like myself that do not use a smart phone, will you have paper score cards ??

Ryan Peterson   October 4 at 2:19pm

We will!

Malakai Lawrence    October 2 at 5:25am

Would love MPO to be an option for next years!

Ryan Peterson   October 2 at 2:04pm

Agreed! That's the plan!

Mitchell Bortz    September 29 at 1:00am

That doesn’t include the taxes and fees based on what you found. Still looking at 325.00 after the fact.

Ryan Peterson now
Hey, Mitchell! Thanks for letting us know. We can focus on getting discounts from hotels and nearby resorts for next year. We hope to see you at next year’s tournament!

Mitchell Bortz    September 28 at 11:35pm

I am interested in playing and signing up, but the insane costs to stay in the Rhinelander area are holding most people back. A Friday night to checkout on Sunday stay at the lowest cost hotel is 450 dollars with taxes and other fees. Unfortunately, I cannot post my screenshot proving the cost. Minoqua is not any better in cost. It’s unlikely this event will grow considering the C-Tier status.

I'm planning to tent camp somewhere nearby next year. Price for two night stay in Rhinelaner for $290 on booking.com - just looked.

Brandon Noskoviak    September 19 at 5:48pm

;) Remember to host this not on Oct 5th next year, which is my anniversary date. Do it on another day, and I will bring myself and at least two other people from EC to take part in a tournament at Rookery Run.

You got it! We prefer late September, due to less variation in weather, too. That's the plan for next year!

Brandon Noskoviak   September 29 at 9:21pm

Very great chance I'll see ya next year then! I'll try to bring five others. My best advice for scheduling would be to not overlap with anything on the 2025 WI tour stop list: https://www.widiscsports.com

Ryan Peterson   October 2 at 4:34pm

Indeed! It was limited by the availability of the course, too. It'll be mid-September next year. Hope to see you there, Brandon!

Stu Gierach    September 18 at 3:13pm

For the past 2 years it has been my desire to get a singles tournament going here in Rhinelander at either Hodag or Pioneer Park with the cooperation of the City of Rhinelander to try and grow this sport up here in the north woods of Wisconsin. We would need 20 portable PDGA approved baskets for the event. Not sure if the city would be willing to spend about $5,000 - $7,000 to purchase baskets that are portable and easy to store while not being used. We could have a handful of tournaments in eit ... more

Stu, let's chat at the tournament about how we can make this happen! I have a deal with Disc Store for events just like this one. We could also create a flyover rendering showing where the baskets would go to show the City before making a large purchase.

Stu Gierach   September 29 at 1:53am

Ryan, that would be great!

Stu Gierach    September 18 at 3:04pm

I would like to encourage everyone to start posting this event on your social media sites. We need to get the numbers up fast! If you know someone that plays disc golf only recreationally and is timid about playing in a tournament, I will be willing to personally pay the registration fee for one person to enter. It will be a really good learning experience for them to take part in a tournament. It's not as scary as you think

Drew Pickens    September 16 at 3:25pm

Are there any good places to camp nearby this tournament? Private or public campgrounds?

Ryan Peterson   September 18 at 1:51pm

Hey, Drew! I've heard good reviews about Camp Pontiac and West Bay Resort! Holiday Acres is more of a resort-style accommodation but is really amazing. Moon Lake Campground is also nearby but I couldn't find any personal reviews to pass along. Hope this helps!

Matthew Hendrickson    September 15 at 10:21pm

I have an 8 year old and a 13 year old that wants to throw in the tournament. My 8 year old tends to get a little distracted. Would everyone be throwing at the same time? I want to throw in it as well and his mom isn’t going to be around to help.

Ryan Peterson   September 15 at 10:33pm

Hey, Matthew! Yes, everyone is going to be playing at the same time. Due to the smaller numbers of the tournament, I can place you in their group if you that helps, too!

Matthew Hendrickson   September 16 at 4:14pm

Omgoodness that would be awesome!!! Thank you so very much! I will let you know as soon as we register!

Ryan Peterson   September 18 at 1:44pm

No problem! Just trying to get as many people out playing and enjoying the sport!

Anthony Radeka    July 29 at 1:58pm

Good morning, If I have only played one tournament before and scored a 817 round. Should I sign up for MA3 or MA4? Tossed on which one to sign up for.

Evan Stoiber   July 29 at 4:41pm

I would play ma4

Ryan Peterson   July 30 at 5:40pm

Hey, Anthony! I would echo Evan's recommendation of playing MA4. It's valuable to play in MA4 for your first tournaments and then progress divisions as you start to have success. I, myself, am a MA4 competitor.

Anthony Radeka   August 12 at 5:47pm

Thank you guys!!

Bill A Becker    May 30 at 1:25pm

If I will be 50 and have no idea of rating what division would I sign up for?

Ryan Peterson   June 1 at 12:23am

Hey, Bill! I would recommend signing up for the Mixed 50+ Division or the MA4 division.

anthony moua    March 6, 2024 at 5:23am

is this a two day event or one day? your image says the october 5-6. im just wondering

Ryan Peterson   March 7, 2024 at 5:43am

Anthony, this is a two-day event. On Saturday we will host the singles tournament and on Sunday we will host the doubles tournament.

Brad Wendt    March 5, 2024 at 3:30am

Old people divisions?

Ryan Peterson   March 5, 2024 at 3:45am

Great point, Brad! Just added those divisions!
