About this tournament
On the evening of Saturday, March 19th, 2022, our friend Gary Rogian passed away unexpectedly. It was the night before the inaugural Dickson Disc Golf Classic, an event that he was excited about and had helped us prepare for, so his loss and his presence were felt heavily. Gary was a former president of the Dickson Disc Golf Club and a core member of the community there, along with his mother and son. He was hilarious, generous, kind, and he loved disc golf. While Jon and I were discussing the 2023 DDGC, it only seemed right that we have a tournament in his name on the course he put so much of himself into, so on Saturday 3/25/23, we will be hosting the inaugural Gary Rogian Memorial at Buckner Park.
Open registration at DGScene goes live at 8:00pm on Saturday, February 25th. Upon registering, all competitors will receive a confirmation email from DGScene which includes a personal link that you can use to edit or change your registration information. As divisions fill, competitors will have the option of registering for the waitlist by paying the full entry fee. All competitors who are not promoted from the waitlist will receive a 100% refund. ALL WITHDRAWALS will be subject to a $10 processing fee. Online registration closes at 5:00pm Central Time on Thursday, March 23rd.
A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to the Dickson Disc Golf Club toward the construction of the new course at Henslee Park. We will also be holding a raffle, the proceeds from which will be donated toward the installation of a bench on hole 14 to permanently memorialize Gary and his contributions to disc golf in Dickson.
Am divisions will receive merchandise vouchers redeemable at the Dynamic Discs Music City RV and Sad Dog Discs. All amateur competitors will receive a players pack including a custom-stamped disc from Dynamic Discs, and their choice of an accessory (sunglasses, reusable scorecard, mini clipboard, etc.)
MPO & MP40 will play from the Blue (short) Tees during Round One, and from the Gold (long) Tees during Round Two. All other divisions will play from the Blue (short) Tees during both rounds.
Hole Sponsorships are available as a non-participant division AND as an add-on for players. If you register for the Sponsor division, only select the sponsorship add-on if you would like to sponsor two holes.
Trophies for 1st-3rd place in divisions with at least 3 competitors registered by March 11th.
Ace Pot and CTP eligibility will be available exclusively via DGScene registration.
Ace Pot: $5 - There will be a CTP flag placed on hole 10. If no aces are hit, the winner of this CTP will receive 50% of the pool, and the remaining 50% will be donated to the Dickson Disc Golf Club.
CTP: $5 - Pro CTP’s will pay out in cash, and Am CTP’s will be awarded merchandise vouchers redeemable at the Dynamic Discs RV and Sad Dog Discs. We have chosen a slightly higher CTP entry fee for this event, so that we can provide a higher value to the winners of these prizes.
Check-in & Players Pack pickup will begin at 7:00am, and the mandatory Players Meeting will begin promptly at 8:00am. NO CHANGES TO REGISTRATION WILL BE MADE AFTER 8:00AM. Round 1 Tee-Off is tentatively scheduled for 8:30am, and official Round 1 start time will be announced at the Players Meeting. Round Two will begin one hour after the final card from Round One is finalized.
