Update: See My note posted in comments section on site re celebrity’ disc players - contributing to this event. Scott Stokely is donating signed discs and signed copies of his book “Growing Up Disc Golf” and also a slot in his top rated Disc Golf School ($1200 value). This prize will be awarded to a Fly Wilderness Competitor at a drawing at the after Party. Juliana Korver will be donating signed, custom discs to go in all female player packs and be used for prizes. Also lunch will be provided to all players; all Ams will receive players packs.
About the event.
This will be the inaugural event at the Wilderness Disc Golf Course designed by Charles Richard PDGA #2806, 5 time world Frisbee Champion and current touring pro and was originally opened to the public in 2019. The course has seen significant modification since then and the result is a beautiful, challenging, meticulously well groomed and appointed, championship level course set on the picturesque grounds of top rated Wilderness Club Resort in the tobacco valley in Eureka Montana. The resort surrounded by the largest reservoir in Montana, 3 Mountain ranges and lies within sight of the snow capped Canadian Rockies.
The Main reason to play this event, in NOT the Guaranteed $1000 player payout (cash for pros gift - cards for Ams irrespective the field size) nor the $500 Ace pool, CTP Prizes T-shirts, the planned after party at my house or any other special things we have added to this event.
The goal is simple, come out and have fun with your friends and family, new and old. To experience the course, sit on one of the custom benches and watch the competition amongst the locals. Play the front nine on a cleared hillside with old growth trees. Face the elevation changes throw in the tight woods on the back the nine. And importantly, to enjoy the hospitality of the Wilderness Club Resort and then end your day knowing that you had a quality, that's with a capital Q, experience.
Competition for the cash in the upper divisions will be stiff, but Novices and New Players Are Welcome and Encouraged To Join in the Fun as well and we have made arrangements for you. INCLUDING a catch-all custom division - for casual or new players who are not familiar with the PDGA Divisions.
Divisions have been broadly set by design for Pros, Amateur Players and Juniors, who will enjoy the competition amongst the locals. But you NEED NOT be a hardened professional to play in this event. Novices, New players, casual players and juniors are are welcome.
NOTE: It will be easy to add more divisions to the event if there is demand to do so. Pick the closest category for the registration and then send me a note as to your actual division and we can adjust accordingly.
NOTE: Accommodations for Friday Night: I have some room to accommodate a limited number of players coming from out of town. There also should be some other locals who might have crash space. Drop me a note if you plan on coming up Friday to practice and need a place to stay. Will do what possible to accommodate you personally or connect you to others who might be able to help out.
We want to thank Chad at Runner-up sports for his sponsorship, and all the staff at the wilderness club for their help with this event. Also we want to show our gratitude Wilderness club Owners and Management for their vision, generosity and support of the Disc Golf Course itself and for opening their doors to the greater community.
