Hey everyone,
Thanks for signing up to play Flex Doubles at Meier's Creek Driven By Innova! The course is ready to go (baskets 10-12 will be dropped off tomorrow before the first tee time) and, yet again, Mother Nature has decided to join us for an event in this series. If nothing else, we're getting better at persevering. Don't forget to bring a towel!
Thanks to series sponsors Innova Champion Discs and Seneca Savings as well as event sponsors Sleepy Hollow Showdown II, Eric Trippany, Ivan Potocnik and Austen Johnson! Thanks also to Doug Courbat, Lenny Kerznowski and Kyle Rath for letting us use their baskets, as well as Jake Peters and Ed Wendland for the setup assist on this beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Here's everything you need to know:
Check-in/Brewery info
I'll be set up in the cellar bar for tournament central. This is accessible by walking down the stairs right of the main entrance before the brewery officially opens at 11:30 a.m. (the front door should be unlocked at some point before then).
Please see me at least 20 minutes before your tee time to pick up players packs, buy into the ace pot and purchase tickets for the basket raffle! As a reminder, all amateurs (including Mixed players) get a custom-stamped disc and a $10 credit to Chamberlin Outdoor Sports, which will be vending out of its trailer in the brewery's backyard.
Food and drink orders throughout the day can be placed at either the cellar bar or the main bar upstairs. Four packs are available for purchase as well. Last call for the kitchen will be around 3:45 p.m. and the bars will close in the 4:30/5 p.m. range (likely dependent on business).
Live scoring
We'll be doing this on UDisc through the CNYDGA Wednesday Singles league group. Here's how to get there after opening the app:
Start a round --> Meier's Creek Brewing Company --> Flex Doubles at Meier's Creek/CNYDGA Wednesday Singles event button at top of screen
Due to UDisc's scoring limitations, this is set up as a singles event on the app. One player from each team must check in and select their division. Then, at least one player on each card must keep score (both checked-in players can if they would like). This functions exactly like live scoring at Wednesday league.
Layout
Everyone is playing the same 21-hole layout, featuring 12 temp holes on the adjacent Lorenzo State Historic Site (1-12), followed by Meier's Creek's nine permanent holes (13-21). I made some slight adjustments this year and tried to put temp pads in the driest spots, but the flow is the same.
You can follow the map on UDisc in your live scoring round. Hole 1 plays along the driveway, facing the road. All tees are marked with red flags.
OB
Please note that the tall grass lines on Lorenzo are not flagged. Use your best judgment and remember that if any part of a disc is in bounds, that disc is in bounds. If a group is unable to come to a decision, take a picture, play a provisional and get in touch with me after your round.
Hole 1: Driveway and across right
Hole 2: Mando left of tree marked with white flag (preventing shots over the road); if both players miss mando, throw with one-stroke penalty from gravel path left of white flag
Hole 5: Stone wall right. Mando right of two trees, both marked with white flags; if both players miss a mando on the same shot, throw with a one-stroke penalty from right of white flag
Hole 6: Stone wall right
Hole 8: Tall grass (dandelion field) right of fairway all the way up past basket, Gravel road and across left of basket
Hole 9: Tall grass right of fairway, gravel path short/left and across
Hole 10: Tall grass right
Hole 11: Tall grass right, parking lot left and across
Hole 12: Tall grass right, parking lot left and across
