The answer to this question is strictly personal preference.
The black series are more like league tournaments, mostly fun with a chance for great prizes and some money winnings as well.
The platinum series is more reminiscent of the PDGA pro tournaments. This is where you'll find PDGA sanctioned events, strong tournament purses, fierce competition and pro quality prizes. Because the winnings are so strong in the platinum series, you can expect higher than normal entry fees.

Thank you for pointing out this typing error, that will be fixed immediately. When paying the full price at any "challenge" series event, you receive a tour card without any extra charge. As listed before, tour cards allow you to play in multiple events in the eDisc tour. We have cards depending upon level of experience (black/gold/platinum). With the increase in card level, you can expect an increase in competition, entry fee, as well as the total purse amount.

if you listed the start time for check in for the women fifteen minutes later because you think they take longer to get ready and are just being chauvinistic in general this might be an event i can support. also i love preregistration. please tell me more about how to get my ecard.
