I haven't played in any tournaments since the late 1990's, but I saw some $ prizes in the results for the recreational group from the last Dynamic Discs Tournament at Lake Park. Obviously this $ would be used at the shop and not actual cash since we aren't pros, but is this common? Would the recreational group be playing for a prize and not a trophy at this tournament, too? It'd be really nice for me to have the possibility to put some cash towards a new bag which I need badly.

The recreational division for most all of our events is Trophy only. Playing the intermediate division or above with get you merch money if you finish well enough. We no longer offer merch for Recreational because we want the sandbaggers to move up. This ensures that true recreational players do not have to worry about a better player moving down just so it's easier to win.
