Hey Disc Golfers!
We are just a few days away from the 2020 Mighty Shunga! We are excited to have you and truly appreciate you signing up for the event. Since we are still following all the COVID guidelines set forth by the PDGA, this email will essentially be your player meeting. There's a lot of information here so please read through all of it.
Pools:A Pool (All Open and All Advanced)
Saturday-
Round 1- Lake Shawnee
Round 2- Lake Shawnee Alternate
Sunday-
Round 1-Crestview
Round 2-Mighty Shunga
B Pool (All Intermediate, All Recreational, and all Juniors)
Saturday-
Round 1-Lake Shawnee Alternate
Round 2-Lake Shawnee

Round 1-Mighty Shunga
Round 2- Crestview
Schedule:
Friday- Early player check-In from 12:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Check-in will be at the RV at Lake Shawnee. Doubles from 12:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Cards can go out up until 5:30 p.m. NO CARDS AFTER 5:30 p.m. Cost will be $20 per team for doubles with Pro and AM divisions.
Saturday- First round tee time for both pools is 9:00 a.m. Late player check-in will also be available at the RV for anyone who can't check-in on Friday. You MUST check-in by 8:45 a.m. or you risk losing your spot!! The second-round tee time will be 2:15 p.m. That means you're on your hole and ready to throw at 2:15 p.m.
Sunday-First round tee time will be at 9:00 a.m. once again. The second round will be at 2:15 p.m. again as well.
Payout:
AM payout will be done via payout from the RV ONLY. YOU CAN NOT GET IT ONLINE. You CAN NOT get payout from Dynamic Discs Emporia or Dynamic Discs KC. You can however get your payout at Dynamic Discs Northwest Arkansas if you ever want to come visit us in the Ozarks. :)
PRO payout will be done via Paypal. We will confirm your PayPal address as you check-in. Since we are playing two rounds on Sunday, it will be difficult for me to make it all the way back home Sunday night. That means payout may not go out until Tuesday. Expect Pro payout to hit your Paypal account before 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
An All Digital Event:
As we try to provide quality events while still keeping everyone safe, we are working towards an all-digital event to keep people from being in large groups. Here are some of the things you can expect for this event:
1. No scoreboard. All scores, starting holes, and course assignments will be posted on the PDGA event page located here: https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/46615 The goal is to have the starting holes posted by 8:30 p.m. the night before the event.
2. Digital scoring cards. (More on that later)
3. No OB sheets to pass around. All the OB will be listed on the PDGA scoring app. Instead of passing around an OB sheet, you will be able to check the OB on your phone. We will still have paper copies of the OB sheets for you to pick up if you choose.
4. No payout slips for Ams. All the payout will be posted on this google doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eC6THb7LHH8T4T8CBx3tix8AIdR84EsE6gfrM_ySBJA/edit?usp=sharing
Keeping Score:
Each group will be keeping score two different ways. One person will keep score on a traditional paper scorecard that you will receive when you check-in. That person will keep the score the entire round and not pass the card. A second person will keep score digitally on the PDGA.com/scores app. To keep score digitally, go to the pdga.com/score website. Enter the password: shunga. After that, you should be good to go. EVERY SINGLE CARD MUST KEEP SCORE DIGITALLY!!!! The paper card can be thrown away once scores are double-checked. The paper card is just there as a checks and balances thing.
Beer!:
Norsemen will be at Crestview on Sunday with some tasty adult beverages there. Every player will get 1 ticket for half off their first beer. If you don't drink or are too young to drink, you will be able to use your ticket for Gatorade. Make sure you thank the Norsemen people for supporting the event.
Food:
JazzyDoggs BBQ will be on site serving up the good stuff. Please support those guys and get yourself some of that amazing food they provide.
Water:
We still aren't allowed to put out communal water on the course due to COVID-19. EVERY PLAYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THEIR OWN WATER!!!! Bring more than you think you need!
Awards:
There will be no awards ceremony for the event. We don't want people congregating in a large group. I will have lines marked for payout. Please keep a good distance between you and the people around you. I promise I'm not going to leave without getting you the payout you won.
Misc:
I will be working this entire tournament by myself. Please be patient with me. If you have any questions at all about a rule call please PLAY YOUR PROVISIONAL!!!!!!!! I may not be at the course you're playing on so it's important to play any provisionals and bring them to me after the round.
