THIS IS A COLOR GROUP EVENT - YOU PLAY IN A DIVISION BASED ON YOUR PDGA RATING. IF YOU DON'T HAVE A RATING, REACH OUT TO THE TD FOR HELP CHOOSING YOUR DIVISION.
This is a flex start single day event. This event is not PDGA sanctioned because we're using cali rules!
What is the cali rule? Great question! "Playing cali" means that you're essentially playing doubles with yourself. However, instead of getting two tries at every shot, you just get one extra throw per hole, and you can decide where you use that shot. You could throw a second drive or approach shot if you want to be closer to the pin, or you could take two putts if you only took one drive or upshot.
Here's how it works with two examples of how different players might use their cali shot on the same hole. Let's imagine that you're playing hole 1 at Hindman East. It's a 275 shot over a pond.
Player 1 throws their drive to 35 feet. They are a solid putter, so they decide to save their "cali shot" for the putt. They go up and miss the first putt, but then they use their "cali shot" and throw a second putt which goes in. This player records a birdie (2) on their scorecard.
Player 2 throws their drive right under the basket. Parked! But, they still have a "cali shot" - what to do? They throw a second drive on an ace run line and just miss the basket, but the disc goes out of bounds long. Not to worry, they can still use their first shot. They go up and tap in their initial drive and record a 2 on their scorecard for a birdie.
In short, you get an extra shot per hole, and you can use it whenever you want. If you throw a second shot, you don't have to use that one (you can still use the first one).
