About this tournament

Weekly Team Match Play League
The breakdown-
Teams will be formed via live draft to compete in a 10 week match play league. At the end of 10 weeks the teams with the top 4 records will play a 2 week playoff to determine the winners.
Weekly matches will put 2 teams head to head every week at a different course layout. Weekly match seeding will be determined by the home team captains. Example – Team A player 1 vs Team B player 1. Team A player 2 vs Team B player 2, and so on. Weekly matchups will be determined by the ‘home team.’
Each week players will be responsible for scheduling their match with the opponent assigned to them by their team captain. Players have 1 week to complete their match at the designated course for that week and report the results.
Layout specific rules will be posted each week, standard PDGA rules apply, no two-meter rule ever. Matches cannot be played in conjunction with any tournament, league or doubles rounds.
Match play rules and scoring –
Unlike stroke play, in which the unit of scoring is the total number of strokes taken over one or more rounds of golf, match play scoring consists of individual holes won, halved or lost. On each hole, the most that can be gained is one point. Golfers play as normal, counting the strokes taken on a given hole. The golfer with the lowest score on a given hole receives one point. If the golfers tie, then no points are assigned for the hole. For example, in an 18-hole match, the first hole is a par-4 and Player A scores a 3 (birdie) and Player B scores a 4 (par); Player A is now 1-up with 17 to play. In the same match on the second hole, a par-5, Player A takes 8 strokes and Player B takes 5 (par); Player B wins the hole and the match is now "all square" with 16 to play. On the third hole, a par-3, both players take 3 strokes and the match is all square with 15 holes to play. A tie on a hole does not "push", each hole will only be worth 1. Once a player is "up" more holes than there are holes remaining to play the match is over. For example, if after 12 holes Player A is 7-up with six left to play, Player A is said to have won the match "7 and 6". If a match is tied after 18 holes players will go to sudden death and the first hole won will decide the match.
Standings –
Team win/lose records will be determined by ‘best of’ in head to head player matches. (# of players per team TBD, teams will be an odd number of players.)
Playoff seeding will be based off final win/lose record. In the event of a tie in points earned tie breakers are 1) Head to Head matches won. 2) Doubles match at Iron Hill Gold, each team chooses their own players. In the event of a 3 way tie we'll resort to stroke play, 1 player from each team.
