USDGC QUALIFYING EVENT:
Top teams will get an invitation to compete at the Winthrop Arena course. See below for number of teams.
Men
1-14 teams = 1 team qualifies
15-24 teams = 2 teams qualify
25+ teams = 3 teams qualify
Women
1-4 teams = 1 team qualifies
5-9 teams = 2 teams qualify
10+ teams = 3 teams qualify
FORMAT:
BYOP (Bring Your Own Partner) and best-shot doubles in a 2-round tournament at Parker's Pasture.
REGISTRATION INCLUDES:
- A disc valued at $20
- A chance to qualify for an invitation to the Winthrop Arena course
- A chance to win one of several trophies provided by Innova.
PLAYER ELIGIBILITY:
All players must meet one of the following criteria in order to be eligible to compete in the USDGC Doubles Main event:
1. The Player is not a PDGA member or does not have a player rating and has never accepted cash in a PDGA event.
2. The player has an Amateur Player Classification with the PDGA - meaning the player is classified as an amateur and plays in amateur divisions for prizes instead of cash. If a player plays in a Pro division and accepts cash at any time, they become classified as a Professional member. An Amateur class player has either never accepted cash, or if they have, they have later met the criteria to be reclassified from Professional back to Amateur with the PDGA.
3. Players who qualify as a team must play together as a team in the main event. No substitutions, no exceptions.
4. All qualified players must register online by April 28th. No exceptions.
Mixed groups of pro and am-class players are not allowed.
Proceeds beyond tournament expenses will benefit the Covington YMCA's goal of purchasing and installing nine portable baskets on Legion Field in Covington. This course will be used to help introduce more people to the sport and to create an easily accessible, inclusive course that can be used by everyone, including those with physical limitations. Hole sponsorships will support this cause as well. Additional donations can be made during the tournament.
