Clash at Stony Mountain - Fundraising XC Tournament
About this tournament
Update: Player meeting at 930 am round 1 begins shortly after.
Disc Golf Manitoba proudly invites you to the first sanctioned event held at Stony Mountain DGC.
We have been working on this course tirelessly all year. It is not yet finished but it is certainly playable. Signage and many other finishing features are yet to be installed.
Some of you have been out playing already, for others this may be your first time. Regardless we invite you to test your skills against this beautiful and unique course.
This is a fundraising XC-tier. What that means is that we WILL be following all PDGA rules of play but we WILL NOT be giving back 90% of fees back to the players. Instead we will be returning between 40-50% of the fees in prizing (and we will only award the top 25% in each division). There will be no player packs. Your $25 fee gets you 1 round (19 holes) of competitive sanctioned rated disc golf, CTP prizes and the opportunity to test your skills against this course while celebrating with the disc golf community one last time before it snows.
The funds raised from this course will go to cover course construction budget overages for 2022 as well as additional features to be added in 2023.
This event is also a way to test the course prior to hosting larger events next year.
- we need to see how the tee pads hold up.
- if pars needs to be adjusted
- how long a tournament round takes
- which holes play slow
- which holes need to be fine tuned.
- how well does parking work.
- what is the best location for tournament central
- does the course play well for all divisions.
- and many more questions.
This tournament will only be 1 round of 19 holes because in Mid-October the days are short and we anticipate rounds to last longer than most tournaments.
MPO and MA1 will play long tees
MA2 / MA3 / FA1 / FA2 / FA3 will play short tees.
We are very thankful for our partnership with the RM of Rockwood. They have been incredibly helpful and supportive. Since DGM invested financially in this project (in addition to the 500+ hours of volunteer labour) we thought it was appropriate that we offer our members first chance at this tournament as a thank you for supporting DGM and its mission. DGM members get 3 weeks to register, if there are any spots left they will open to the non-members on Oct 1.
