About this tournament

Welcome to the tournament registration page for amateur players for the 35th Checkered Flag Open presented by Jax Roofing, to be held Sunday, July 21st at the Brookside Park disc golf course.

– History –
Indy Disc Golf Club’s premier annual event, the Checkered Flag Open (CFO) is the oldest and most distinguished disc golf tournament in Central Indiana, drawing top players from all over the Midwest to Indianapolis each year to compete for the flag. Past winners include PDGA World Champions, Hall-of-Famers, and local legends. Could the next one be you?

– Major Details –
The 35th CFO presented by Jax Roofing will take place Saturday, July 20th (PRO) & Sunday, July 21st (AM) at beautiful Brookside Park in Indianapolis. For each player class, the CFO is a one-day, 2-round PDGA-sanctioned B-Tier event. There will be a one-hour break between rounds, and the same layout will be played for each round. Current PDGA membership is required for all players.

– Fees and Payouts –
○ $53 AM (All) – 100% net entry^ to merch. payouts
○ All amateur merchandise payouts will be redeemed through Disc Crazy/Disc Golf Mart.
○ Player pack: all amateur players will receive one event T-shirt and one event-artwork-stamped Discraft disc. The value of these items will NOT be deducted from amateur merchandise payout totals. That’s right – player pack items are totally free for participants! Thank your sponsors.

^Net entry is total entry fee minus the $3 PDGA fee for this event tier – e.g. for an amateur player entry fee of $53, $50 will go toward the payout pool.

– Trophies –
The CFO has awarded some of Central Indiana's most legendary trophies, and the tradition continues for the 35th this year. IDGC master woodworker Kevin Gillon is making custom trophies for all divisions. If you've seen Kevin's work from previous events, you already know that you want one of these trophies atop your mantle.

– Waitlist, Available Divisions –
If all spots have filled for your desired division, you may register for the waitlist. If available spots held for specific divisions have not filled after 7/12/24, then players will be promoted off the waitlist to fill the demand in other divisions, per the discretion of the tournament director.

#TD note: Ladies, please sign up in the available female division. I will contact you prior to the event to coordinate divisions other than those that were available during registration.

– Layouts, Tournament Central, Parking –
Layout information can be viewed in the "Pictures" tab along with an event map with logistics information like parking. Check the Documents section to view the player guide.

– Sponsor or Volunteer –
The sponsor form for the 35th CFO is attached in the documents section of this page. Sponsors and volunteers allow us to deliver a great player experience each year that far exceeds the value of entry fees. This event would not be possible without this kind of community support. Please contact tournament director and IDGC President Adam Harvey with any questions about sponsoring or volunteering at the 35th CFO.

#Thank you to Jax Roofing, Napleton Automotive Group, HyzerGround, Hamilton Disc Golf Union, Chilly Water Brewing, Zing Mini Discs, Void King, the Circle City Acers, Elwood Disc Golf Enthusiasts, and Big Al's Ice Cream for already sponsoring this year’s event.
