I started Chains and Grains because I love playing disc golf and I love brewing beer. Through the disc golf and the homebrew communities I have met tons of awesome people so I figured I should create an event that could bring all these people together. This event started as one day where we had a disc golf tournament that was followed by a small beer festival where everyone tried the different homebrew's and voted for their favorites. We have now expanded to 3 days with multiple events and just tons of fun to be had. Below I am just going to list what and when things are happening and give notes on each thing.
Friday 10/11
Initial Set up: Starting at Noon we will be getting things set up at the course so feel free to come help. If you plan to camp this is a good time to come out and pick a campsite and check out the layout we are setting up for the Space Race.
Space Race: If you have not heard of the Space Race, It is an event put on by MVP. Each player will receive a players pack which will consist of 2 MVP Glow Disc's, these discs will be the only ones you use during the tournament. We will be setting up an 18 hole course around the camping area. All of the holes will range between 100 and 250 feet. The holes will be shorter because the scores are based on a point system not how many shots you take. Each player has two throws per hole and players earn one point for metal, three points for a chain hit and five points per ace – most cumulative points wins. This will be a two round event, first being right before dark and the second being after dark. Since the players are only throwing off the tee and the holes are shorter the rounds will be quite quick.
Saturday 10/12
Chains and Grains Unsanctioned Tournament: This is the main tournament of the weekend, normal 18 holes at Dry Hop. Mulligans will be available for purchase, optional ace pot to buy into. Beer will be available on the course. Cash prizes for the top players in the MPO field, gift cards will be given to the top players in their amateur divisions. Trophy's will be given to the best scoring Male and Female players. Registration gives you access to the disc golf tournament, custom drinkware, unlimited homebrew samples.
Live Music: We plan to have live music after the tournament. Bands are TBD.
Island Ace Challenge: We will be setting up a basket on the Island with a $500 Ace bounty. We will have discs for the players to use so you do not have to worry about loosing your disc in the pond. $5 - one throw, $20 for 5 Throws, $35 for 10 throws.
Putting Tournament: This is NEW. While you are hanging out listening to the band and trying the beers enter into our putting competition. We will be setting up 9 stations where players will take 3 discs to each station and count up how many putts they make. The players with the most putts made will be paid out.
Homebrew Competition: If you are a homebrewer and are interested in bringing beer for the competition please reach out to me. Anyone that brings a keg/bottle of homebrew to share and enter into the competition will receive a $15 discount into the event. Everyone that comes to the event will receive 2 tickets they will use to vote for their favorite homebrew's. Top hombrewers will receive prizes. The best homebrewer will receive a trophy.
Sunday 10/13
Chains and Grains Sanctioned Tournament: This is a C-Tier tee timed tournament. This tournament is just a way to get some rating points, so there is no payouts, just bragging rights and rating points. You can request a tee time and I will do my best to schedule it for you.
Other Notes:
Food: We will have food available for purchase on Saturday after the tournament. Menu TBD.
Custom Stamped Discs are available for purchase.
