2022 Boxed Out
Welcome and Thank you to everyone who is playing. This is the semi permanent 9 hole layout. We will play it twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon. 36 holes total. Between rounds we will have time for food and relaxing or practicing.
All players please arrive early and get checked in. Hole assignments will be posted on the PDGA site and available at check in. There will be coffee and fruit for a light breakfast complimentary.
Check in should begin at 8:00am and conclude no later than 8:45am, again, please help the TD out and arrive early. Players meeting at 8:30. Tee time is 9:00am. At 8:58am you will hear the two-minute warning and then another shout for starting at 9:00am. The second Round will begin at 2:00 with the Two minute warning being at 1:58. Awards to follow shortly after the second round.
Make sure to check with Jacob Neff who is the official TD for any special questions or concerns. During lunch, unless there are questions about the first round please give me some space to get everything in order for round two. This shouldn’t take long.
This is a PDGA Sanctioned event. PDGA Rules will be in play. Come to the players meeting at 8:30am if you have any questions.
Live scoring WILL BE USED for this event. Please follow these guidelines for scoring.
1. Have Two people in your group go to www.pdga.com/score
2. Type in the access code: boxing
3. At the end of the round ALL players in the group need to approve their score. This happens by typing in their name or pdga number to approve the score when the round is finished. PLEASE DO NOT MISS THIS STEP.
4. Finalize and submit the scorecard, if you do it correctly, you don't even need to turn anything in to the tournament staff. It will provide Me with all the information I need to do groups for the second rounds and post scores.
5. Repeat all these steps for round 2.
The groups will be re ordered for the second round to play with your closest competitors in your division.
Below is the OB and rules for the course. Scorecards will be provided also as backups or if anyone can not use the digital score card.
OB shots are to be taken at 1 meter from the line that the disc went OB. There is a little bit of casual water still and for casual water you take the disc back in line with the basket as far as needed. On this course there is a decent amount of places that have the potential for an “unplayable lie”. Try your best to play all lie’s. If it is on a cow patty, then you can play from behind the cow poop. If it is next to or near the cow poop, then play the lie. If it is in a bush with thorns try to get a foot in there and play it if possible. If it is deep in and you feel its too much, then call over the card mates and come to a group agreement on if its playable or you should take relief. If you do take relief then you go back from the lie as far as needed in line with the basket. If there are cows on the course and you feel your disc is too close to one and it feels dangerous, then take relief the same as an unplayable lie. Back as far as you need in line with the basket.
Hole 1
OB in the small pond in front of the tee pad and OB water past the brick fence to the right of the Tee.
OB also in the water to the Left past hole 2’s tee pad
Hole 2
OB in the water past the basket and to the left
Hole 3
None except inside the brick wall’d fenced area
Hole 4
OB in the pond to the right of the basket and far behind the basket. The field before the pond is casual. The pond is OBThe defining line is the small bamboo bridge we use to cross over to hole 5.
Hole 5
No OB, unless you really shank it to the right past the tin house. Water and rice OB.
Hole 6
OB in the Rice field and water to the right of the basket. The Line is determined by a partial fence and line of tree’s that block off the rice field. There are a few trees and bamboo with white paint on them to help determine what is in and out.
Hole 7
Ob past the fence just before the Rice field on the left
OB past the basket at the house’s fence.
Hole 8
OB Rice Fields. Will be marked with a white line.
Hole 9
Inside the fenced area is going to be played as a hazard. Play the lie but add 1 penalty stroke. The Rice directly in front of the tee pad is NOT OB.
Reminder that the rounds are 18 holes so if you need to grab something after the first 9 then that’s fine but continue playing in a reasonable time. No break after 9 holes.
Also, no punching cows.
Thanks for reading and playing. Can’t wait to get out there and have some fun.
