Boulder Woods World of Doubles
About this tournament
An unsanctioned BYOP doubles two round tournament at one of my personal favorites in PA. $10 from each team's entry fee will be donated to the Boulder Woods Country Club, with the rest going straight to payouts! No player packs for this event either, further increasing the payouts. Please pick the division that seems most appropriate for your team, the event is meant to be as fun as possible. Scoring will be on U-Disc Live with paper backups.
Tournament Central will be near Hole #1's teepad. Meet there for Registration/Check-In.
Gold/Mixed Payout - PayPal
Silver/Bronze Payout - Merch bucks/voucher (through Central PA Disc Golf)
There will be separate CTP's for each division, with each division having 1 CTP per round.
Round 1:
18 holes of best shot.
Lunch:
Bring your own lunch.
Round 2:
Holes 1-9: Alternate shot.
Holes 10-18: Best shot.
What is best shot doubles?
When most disc golfer's hear "doubles," Best Throw (sometimes called Captain's Choice or Best Disc) is what first comes to mind. As the name suggests, it's when a team always picks the best throw from one of the team members as its lie. Team members do not have to throw from the same lie.
This format is a great way for beginners to enjoy rounds more and learn from players with more experience. The ability to always choose the best throw is likely to yield far better results than newer players are used to. And if they're teamed up with a player with more skill and knowledge, they could get advice and tips for improvement or learn just by watching.
What is alternate shot doubles?
In Alternate Shot, only one sequence of throws is made on each hole.
The team selects a player to throw the tee shot at the beginning of the round. The other player then throws from the subsequent lie, and play alternates in that fashion until the round is completed. Alternate Shot is closer to a singles format, where one partner can't bail the other out. If you miss a short putt, chances are good that you'll be driving the next hole. For any violation that requires a rethrow (stance violation, provisional throw), the same player throws.
100% of entry fees (besides the designated donation amount) will be used towards payouts and tournament related items (city permits, CTP items, additional games, etc).
Playoffs for 1st place only. Any playoffs will loop Holes 1, 2, 3, & 18 until there is a winner.
Ace Pot is the World of Doubles Ace Pot, which rolls over from the previous tournament if no aces are hit
