Welcome to the Black Bear Amateur Championships! Our goal is for this to be our best showing yet of what an Elite Disc Golf event looks like in Southern Ohio!

We will be playing two rounds of 21 on the Black Bear DGC in the beautiful Shawnee State Park. The 3 extra tournament holes are game changers for this course. All 3 include water hazard. Hole 21 plays to an island, and is one of the most fun holes that we've ever played! This year, Black Bear Amateur Championships is a 2 day B tier. 1 round each day with Tee times. This gives everybody more time to hang out with friends and relax between rounds. Payouts at the end of each division finishing their Second round.

This year, we have decided to focus all of our attention on Amateurs! This allows us to do multiple things for our ams. First off, Kristy Moore has made us the second to last stop on the Ohio Amateur Tour. This is a really great point series that helps Ams from all over the state to compete against each other over the course of the year. Secondly, we are adding $3000 to players packs this year. Voucher system used for payouts. We have a large selection from multiple manufacturers to pick through for your winnings!

Players pack tournament discs will be each player will get 2 Innova Premium discs, and 1 disc from Lonestar Discs. Players pack will also have a premium jersey from Teddy Peddler. CUTOFF FOR RECEIVING A JERSEY AT THE TOURNAMENT IS 8/2/23. ALL REGISTRANTS AFTER THIS DATE WILL STILL RECEIVE A JERSEY, BUT THEY WILL BE ORDERED AFTER TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION CLOSES. YOU CAN PAY AN ADDITIONAL $5 FOR US TO MAIL IT TO YOU, OR YOU CAN PICKUP IN PERSON AT THE SODGA STORE. THANKS! THEY WILL LIKELY ARRIVE 4-6 WEEKS AFTER THE TOURNAMENT FOR WAVE 2.

This year, we will again have staggered registration... with a twist! Early Bird Registration is $25. It guarantees you a spot in the tournament, we will add an extra tournament stamp disc to your players pack, and we will put your name on a sign as a thank you for helping sponsor our event!

Deals on overnight stays at the Shawnee Lodge and possibly for campsites at Shawnee. The lodge is beside holes 13 and 14. It has an indoor pool, restaurant, and a bar. The campground is just a 4 minute drive down the road from hole 1. There is also a new campground in the Shawnee State Park system beside the river. This is where our new course Hawk's Landing DGC is being built, and should be playable. The new ETC Fire and Smoke DGC is also only about a 15 minute drive.

The course will be put in the tournament layout no later than the week prior, probably much earlier than that. Holes 19, 20, and 21 we will try to have in place the Thursday before the event. For those of you who want to come early to practice and take in all the Park has to offer, just be wary of us who are on the course making sure it is in tip top shape for you all.

The day before day 1 of Black Bear Ams, we will be having the Little Bear flex start. It will be a flex start C tier first tee offs will start at noon, last tee off at 5pm. $25 gets you a disc for players pack, a rated round on the bottom 9 hole layout (played through twice for 18 total holes), and payout. A separate dgscene page will be made for it.

Where does my money go?

+Amateur Divisions-

$3 goes to PDGA for ratings.
$5 goes to Ace Pool
$22 goes to Custom Jersey in Players packs.
$25 goes to 3 Tournament Discs in Players packs.
$15 goes to Payout

Every player in this tournament is automatically entered into Ace Pool. If we max out our player pool, Ace Pot will be worth $500! Ace pool will be paid out after the tournament via Paypal. If multiple aces hit during tournament, Ace Pot will be split accordingly. IF NO ACE HIT DURING THE TOURNAMENT, ACE POT WILL BE DONATED TOWARDS BUILDING STEPS FROM 1 TO 2 OR BLACK BEAR LONGS TEEPADS.
