Players,
Bittner Park Open – Amateur Day is a two round shotgun start event at Bittner Park DGC Sunday 5/1.
Typically, we send out this email the day before the event but we will be out of the country all week. We will be back doing tons of stuff Friday night around 7pm.
All players must sign in. Sign in at pavilion by the parking lot. Players who have not signed in will lose their spot to the wait list players who will be on site and are ready to play.
There will be a short in person players meeting Saturday at 8:30am. Round 1 cards are mixed mostly by rating, round 2 cards will be by division and score from round 1.
For the unvaccinated; Masks that cover your mouth and nose are required when you sign in or any other time you are near the store, tournament central, and in your groups if you can’t socially distance.
Hand sanitizer is available for your use before you touch any merchandise in the store.
Amateur player package is disc of choice. We will use the two picnic tables with those items when you sign in. Pick up your players pack before round one.
Your starting hole for the round is listed at
https://www.pdga.com/tour/event/58559. In the morning check again your starting hole to confirm nothing has changed. Changes should be very unlikely and only if absolutely needed.
Some cards may have 3 people; if it is time to start and you only have 1 or 2 people you cannot start; wait where you are for the next group and play with them keeping scores separate. The person who does not show up gets par plus four for every hole they miss.
Each card must have two people keeping score. Open person must keep score via the PDGA website and another person any other way you want. Udisc is a common way for the second person to keep score.
We have set up layouts on the PDGA site. PDGA.comscores code Bittner
For OB rulings, group decision is needed. If you can’t decide, give the benefit to the player; when in doubt play a provisional. Player must declare loudly they are playing a provisional.
Keep an eye on where you land. You only get 3 minutes to search for your disc before it is officially lost.
No two-meter rule; no special island rules. Everything is standard PDGA rules.
Bring plenty of water; and this may be a good time for this year to wear sunscreen & bug spray.
The B.S. Bochantin Upshot store will be open during the entire event. We accept venmo, paypal & cash
For those swapping their unwanted plastic, give us your discs before round 1. We will value them as you play, and you will receive a script card for the value to use when you finish the round. We are not accepting any swaps after you finish round 1. Due to a massive influx of used Innova discs please expect $1 for Shark, Leopard, Teebird, Beast, Wraith, Katana & Groove
For any first-place tie breaker playoffs, start hole 9 long, 10 long, 8 long, 9 short, 10 short, 8 short and continue this loop all short tees.
We have currently collected $245 for the ace pot. If you did not pay online, you can pay as you sign in. For the side game for 'Ace Pot/Side Games' we will be doing a CTP (Closest to Pin) to the practice basket which will happen after round 2 and before awards. Each player who has paid in is eligible. Winner will receive any one item of choice for store.
We are using 3 'layouts' HARD, MEDIUM & EASY. We have 2 pools of players. MA1, MA40, MA2 is pool 1 and the rest is pool 2. Pool 1 will play HARD then MEDIUM & pool 2 will play MEDIUM then EASY.
The original tees we are referring to as short tees. The new alternate tees we are referring to as long tees.
EASY is all short tees.
MEDIUM is only long tees on 4,5,14,15
HARD is long tees on 3,4,5,7,10,14,15,18
All water and across for this event will be played as casual relief in addition to the swamp on 17. Casual relief is a no penalty way of doing OB.
Be prepared to start the second round 45 minutes after you arrive back at your vehicle after your first round.
