I totally missed the discussion about merchandise (ppac or sales). So, I left without my usual tournament momento. Did anything get produced for the event? If so, can I call "dibs" on a disc or shirt. Given the low entry fee, I expect some charge.

Fred, I got a shirt with registration. Thought everyone did. I would have bought a 2013 Battle stamped disc but I wasn't told if any were printed or available.

Fred Vocino   August 27, 2013 at 10:33pm

Arrrrgg! I was asking other distracting questions about my pre-registration when I checked in. Then it was all about the game.

Fred Vocino    August 26, 2013 at 8:41pm

Thanks to all the fire-keepers for keeping the tournament "coals" hot enough to get the flames going yesterday. I'll keep my eyes turned toward Detroit and make a Belle Isle tournament one of my anchor events in 2014. Any Belle Isle supporters coming to the west side of Michigan should feel free to contact me (in Grand Rapids) if you would like a tour of the area courses. We even have a course (Riverside) that is a fair attempt at a course next to (but not in) a big river.

Thanks to everyone who put on the tournament. Disc'd with two good groups of people. Pretty good turn-out on short notice.

It was great meeting you Jim and the scores of other players. My first tournament and things were great. Course was stunning, and everything seem to run like clockwork. Additional kudos to the organizers or the event and course. Hope to see this a permanent addition to my local course scene.

It was a pleasure having the two "cards" I had. I got to watch some pretty shots too!

Scott, Will we be able to sign up and register on the morning of the event?

Yes, for sure

Brandon W    August 23, 2013 at 5:49pm

I would like to sign up but I am wondering which division. I am pretty sure recreation, I have never been in a tournament before. But if recreation is for first time players I think I can move up. I guess I'm looking for an answer to the skill level of recreation. Yes I can throw. more than 25 feet but I am not going to be rattling off par after par. I'm more of a good drive and then 4 putt lol.

Brandon - Recreational AM3 is probably the best division for you.

Jamie Mosier    August 23, 2013 at 1:33am

Really? It's unsanctioned now? Open is really 25 now? And has a players pack? Yyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Up In The Air Disc Golf   August 23, 2013 at 12:29pm

Im so sorry Jamie, its been like Bowser's castle dealing with the park this month trying to find out where we stand since we lost the old park director. I know its unfortunate that its unsanctioned, really bums me out too but the course is not ready for that yet. Im not 100% on open yet and if ... more

Jamie Mosier   August 23, 2013 at 5:05pm

Trophy only is for ams. It's a long drive to go all the way there and "buy" a $20 players pack. It was OK before being a fundraiser but seeing that the course is in, maybe closed but in none the less, no pro would like the idea. Maybe an am trying to play pro with us but no pro would fathom this as a good idea

Up In The Air Disc Golf    August 22, 2013 at 8:29pm

This event will not be a sanctioned tourney due to last minute unforeseeable changes, however there will be cheaper entry fees. We will be looking for good competition, but will be taking a more laid back approach on the day. Please come and support us by showing the park you want the course there; this is an important step on establishing disc golf downtown. It will be a very awarding play through and we will be providing trophies to winners of their devision.

Sorry for all the lack of information. Due to unforeseeable conflict we had to re jump through all the hoops again this month trying to get this event re-approved by the new park director. There has been a change at the park that derailed us momentarily and had to resubmit all the paperwork. We were uncertain of all the details of this event up until this past tuesday but are all back on track now, we did not want to post up or build hype with a chance of cancelation and for that we apologize. Yes this event is on, much course work is planned for this week to bring it up to being playable.

DDC rocks. I'm going to make my travel/ overnighht plans, but will wait to register in case the fee schedule finally differentiates the divisions.

Jim B    August 21, 2013 at 1:14am

I was just told this event is on. You can either register the day of the event or pre-reg now.

Fred Vocino   August 20, 2013 at 11:57pm

I also got the "GO" news. I'm guessing that pre-reg is going to be low due to the peculiarity of the same fee for all divisions. (Some my expect it will be different when they get there) Folks might state their intentions in "Talk" to get a little momentum going. With only 1 ... more

Fred Vocino    August 20, 2013 at 5:39pm

When is the deadline for pre - registration? Is there a charge for on site reg?

If I had to guess this is a NO GO! I went to Belle Isle on Saturday morning, and the course has NOT been cut ALL season. The fairways are knee high. The park is fenced in, and we were told it was closed. We called the number listed and were told they were having "insurance issues." Doesnt sound good.

Just a FYI, being a promoter, I have been asked for insurance many times when running events in parks...

Fred Vocino   August 21, 2013 at 8:16pm

Mark would be the guy who knows about such things. It would make sence that the PDGA gives some guidance to TDs facing park officials with insurance concerns.

Mark Stephens   August 21, 2013 at 11:29pm

Well, not saying this is the case but if it were you can get a policy through the PDGA for $50. However, that only works if their limits matches the PDGA policy. My club buys a policy that covers us for a year and much higher limits than the PDGA policy. Now, the City could also be concerned about the day to day insurance If so, I have never heard of something like that.

Will there be any added cash?

Fred Vocino    August 5, 2013 at 1:14am

Please note my pre-pay registration: Fred Vocino #51798, MG1. Where I see presumed clarifications re: division prices, I will pay-pal register. I am not distracted by course page posts re: course readiness or city bureaucracy.

Is this the same tournament as the Nov 6th, 2011 and October 27th 2012 event? Music, vendor trucks for lunch, beer, disc's for sale, t-shirts for sale etc. This is my favorite tournament and have been confused by the tournament series posted here. I don't commit to series. I like one and done events and the last 2 tournaments were a blast.

Fred Vocino   August 4, 2013 at 5:03pm

Same tournament name, same island spot, same organizers, better dates....I'm expecting same Breakfast Stout etc. A better course condition is also a safe assumptipn. My confidence acts now as I put it on my schedule.

Fred Vocino   August 8, 2013 at 7:07pm

Also I have not seen a tournament series that denied someone's entry to one event because they had not played others in the series.
