It is with a heavy heart that we are advising that the 2020 BC Open will not be taking place this year.

It is with a heavy heart that we are advising that the 2020 BC Open will not be taking place this year.

We have been carefully monitoring all the official announcements about return to sport and competitive play in BC and still feel strongly that disc golf will be one of the first sports to be approved for return to competitive play in BC. The most recent communications from Via Sports stated that the feedback they received from the BC Centre for Disease Control was favorable to BC Disc Sports’ proposed approach to implementing more competitive opportunities and that Via Sport is continuing to work on guidelines. However, it does take time to put together a good event and even more time to put together a great A-Tier event so we have had to look at our time frame and with less than 45 days before our event was set to run we have had to make the hard decision to cancel the 2020 BC Open.

Even though our event was not able to run in 2020 we would like to thank Innova Disc Golf, who would have been our major sponsor, for maintaining its commitment to support our event throughout all the recent uncertainty and we look forward to working with Innova in years to come.

Refunds will be coming over the next few days. We hope to see you all in 2021.

I'm going to have to unregister for this event. Unfortunately with the covid uncertainties, I think its the right call though. Good luck everyone!

As the border reopening seems unlikely, should those of us south of the border consider submitting our refund request this week? I know the deadline for a full refund is Friday the 31st.

John, did you receive my email I sent a couple of days ago? Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it out to BC because of work commitments in the fall. Could you please provide me with a refund for the tournament fee's. Thanks.

Is there a reason why I can not register as MA60 when there is a registrant who has a higher rating than me but it says I have too high a rating???

We are closely watching the ongoing impact to our event due to COVID-19. Since our event is 4 months away we have a bit of time but once we have a decision a post will be made to this group and on our web page www.bcopen.ca At the current time we are still working toward holding our event but only time will tell where we go from here. For now the only thing we have changed is that we have caped our event at the current number of registered players and removed the payment needed to be on the wait list.
