Letting cashless registrations hold their spots while wait-list / "willing to pre-pay" folks have to wait for morning no-shows, avoids telling people that they must pay ahead to get a spot. Some may say that setting a pre-pay deadline a few weeks before the event, feels like people can buy "cuts" in the line. I am mindful of the need to keep the sport available to folks with different funding priorities. And I applaud Rick for managing the complications that come with holding spots for both kinds of registrations. TO MAKE THINGS QUICKER and, to acknowledge the wait -listed and still waiting folks and, to appreciate those who only need to check-in, I suggest this. HAVE TWO LINES: 1) People who have registered with a spot who have not yet paid, and 2) People who only need to check in. (Waitlist people who took a chance by coming in might also use this line.) If you like I can make two signs that tell which line is which.

Is there a "day of" fee for pre-registered players that have not paid? I'm trying to pay online, but don't think it's an option with a full registration

Day of is for people who have not stated their interrest. In the future....there will be cash only for pre-reg so there isn't a reason for pe0ople to not show up. I will not enforce a day of fee for this one.

Thanks for tweeking PDGA, Rick. Some other player can decide if they wish to make it an issue concerning their next division eligibility. That would be a direct player-to-PDGA appeal...as the TD did his job well.

Thanks Fred. I was quite shocked when I saw GRDoD and the April Anhyzer on the list. I notified him shortly after I received the email from him. Again, he was very apologetic. He does have a really busy schedule and being on the go all the time can affect one's work. Somehow the scores got put into the "International Worlds Registration" folder.

Excessive profit taking is a meaningless innuendo at this point. Any problems with the pace of play would not be attributed to the organizers. Using ghost cards or "heavy" cards was avoided as a way to meet the high demand for participation. Next year's participation should not suffer as a result of the anticipated pace or the payoffs.

I am uncertain how to address this post. I'll give details: AM3 Entry fee= $20. $10 Player Pack $2 PDGA Fee = $8 per player going to payout pool. So, with $820 - 410 - 82 = $328 leftover for payout. 50% of the field was paid out. The players who received the mini's tied for the final payout spot. That is why they both received a mini. It is always my hope to pay out MORE than what is brought in, but it requires cash sponsorships for the tournament. If you would like to help increase the payouts per tournament, please help locate and land cash sponsorships. I cannot payout more than what is taken in without that type of sponsorship. Sorry.

Rick- you need not have given such a precise explanation in response to such a vague complaint. However, I do appreciate how TDs like yourself volunteer your time and resources. Some disc-retailers can make a business case for doing tournaments. There should be some PDGA based calculation of expenses/stipends when folks like you give us these tournament opportunities.

you can never make everybody happy. it should be trophy only for AM's with cash going into the open purse.. would eliminate the sandbaggers

HOPEFULLY all players will be happy with that. Of course, sponsorships are going to in need in order to meet the MDGO's requirements.

I'm still an AM as well :). Wish It was trophies for top 3.. then maybe some tiny trophies through 10 if the field is large enough.. I hate participation trophies

I've never ran a tournament and I understand there are a lot of factors at play but the winners prize package was very meager in comparison to other events. properly rewarding the best players at your tournament can result in better and better players entering every year, and you'll build prestige. I don't mean to offend anyone, just an idea.

I personally cannot explain the ratings factor that the PDGA gives and provides. I can place a question to the PDGA when I turn in my report.

yeah, the ratings do change after initial submission sometimes I know that, so maybe that will be taken into account. Awesome job posting the scores so fast though =)

Rick did show a difference in course pars- 76/longs, 72 shorts, where the difference of 4 is the same as the number of short tees played by some. PDGA may not initially compute that variation as significant.

Steve offers a 2012 April Anhyser for comparison. A number of conditions going into the calculations can explain year to year variations. 25 points may be counter-intuitive, just as my own intuition about my poor play yesterday makes me doubt the high rating I got.

the 2012 shows the difference in ratings between shorts and longs. a 70 for rec didn't score the same as a 70 from am1. as far as different ratings I understand conditions play with that so no two tournaments will have the same ratings for the same courses.. just like when players collectively shoot better

As long as the report was submitted properly reflecting multiple layouts as specified in the TD manager help page (http://www.pdga.com/apps/tournament/manager/help.php) then it should also be shown on the unofficial page. Until the tournament changes to "Official" then the TD can make necessary changes to get it straightened out, once official you have to contact the PDGA.

I found out where I DID make a mistake and I appologize. I found that I missed a tab when enterring the data and did not select which divisions played which course. Everything should be correct now. Sorry for the mistake.

ugh - I wish DGS let you see your entire entry before hitting enter! Anyways - the update was March 24th and the rule is "If you have pre-registered, the TD may allow you to remain in that division as long as the event is within two weeks of the ratings posting date". They do not meet that requirement in this case.

Dave may have saved a couple of guys from forfeiting their winnings in the wrong division.

Hi guys. On Friday, when I print the final registration report and the PDGA's information on players. I will make the decision of who goes where. If the PDGA indicates that a player has registered for the wrong division, I will bump them into the correct one. I base as many decisions on what the PDGA recommends and provides as possible.
