RECORD SETTING YEAR FOR RMH & WATERLOO

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, Waterloo DGC and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas (RMH) would like to thank the players, sponsors, and all the amazing volunteers of the 47th Annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic for their successful efforts to raise $12,000 for RMH.

A couple of cool things about the fundraising:

1) Not only is this $12,000 a record-high amount for the tournament, beating the previous best by over a thousand dollars, BUT it also pushed the total fundraising amount over the $200,000 threshold!

2) By setting a new record here in 2024, this means it took the tournament 18 years to break the $100,000 mark but only half that time, 9 years, to break $200,000.

In addition to the cash this year we also collected a box of food & household goods plus 9 gallon-jugs full of aluminum can tabs.

The grand totals to RMH starting with the 21st Annual Waterloo DG Classic in 1998 and continuing through the 47th Waterloo in 2024 are now:

$200,643 in cash, many many boxes of food, toys, and household goods, and 241 gallons of can tabs.

Thank you to EVERYONE who helped make this year so successful and so fun, including the Golf Division of Austin P.A.R.D. and the hard working staff at the Hancock (Ball) Golf Course. They are a joy to work with and they always have the course looking beautiful and in great shape. We are already looking forward to the 48th Annual Waterloo in 2025.

Another good question from someone about the mandatory check-in periods on Friday & Saturday:

It is all 1 big check-in period, just with a small time frame Saturday morning for those who just can't make it on Friday.

The more who check in on Friday the faster things go on Saturday, but we realize not everyone can be there that day. But if you do come by in the late afternoon, we'll have some delicious beer from Live Oak Brewing Co. available :)

Plus you won't have to either go back to your car or keep up with your player pack in your cart/bag during the first round.

The randomly mixed division cards on round 1 is something we are not allowed to do this year, so you will be playing with your division all 3 rounds. There may be some mixing on the cards because we have to have 5 players on each card in order to fit everyone, but for the most part it will all be by divisions.

Hopefully we can return to the fun, random round 1 next year.

We mentioned in the Doubles info that it would really help for players to bring cash for their entry fees, and it will! But it would also help a lot for everyone to bring cash for the other stuff too, like sales, silent auction, McC-Note Challenge entries for 2025, etc. (or checks work too, for you mature golfers :) ).

It is just faster and easier, all the way around. We will have a Square reader available for credit cards, but that really slows things down. NO electronic/online payments available.

And the Annual Waterloo Disc Golf Classic is the longest running disc golf tournament in the Southwestern U.S. and one of the oldest in the world, having never missed a year since the 1st Waterloo in 1978.

This year we are back at the historic Hancock Golf Course again for the 11th time! Austin’s oldest disc golf event plays at Austin’s first ball golf course, a perfect match!

New in 2024:
EVERYONE must keep a full scorecard, every round.
If you don’t keep a scorecard on your phone using PDGA Live Scoring, then you must use a physical scorecard
Your group must confirm that everyone's cards are the same (both online and physical cards) before finalizing and submitting your scores.
If you use a physical scorecard then you must turn it in to HQ after the round.


So… make sure your phones are charged up and that you have either downloaded the PDGA Live app or have bookmarked the live scoring website (www.pdga.com/score)

We will have some physical scorecards available at HQ for those who need them.

Once you confirm your scores online, they are OFFICIAL! So don’t do this until ALL scorecards have been confirmed as identical. Also don’t confirm them if you have questions about a Provisional shot situation or something that needs to be cleared up. Instead, have ALL the players on the card come to HQ and ask the TD (Gordon Kelley) - use the notes field in the PDGA online scoring to put your other score. Get his ruling first and then finalize things.

Here are the ALCOHOL RULES for the event, Fri. - Sun.
There is a city Recreation Center that shares the property so following these rules is VERY important as we can expect to see some kids and families around some of the time.

Players CANNOT drink alcohol during their sanctioned, singles rounds on Sat. & Sun. Otherwise, some alcohol drinking is allowed at Hancock, but not everywhere and not all the time.

WHEN: You can drink any time on Friday during doubles. You can drink on Sat. & Sun EXCEPT when you are playing your official singles rounds.

WHERE: ONLY on the ball golf course part of the property. This is much of the property, but not all of it.
You can NEVER DRINK in the parking lots. You can NEVER DRINK anywhere near the Recreation Center. You can NEVER DRINK on the soccer field (holes #17 & #18 of the Olse Course). You can NEVER DRINK near what used to be the golf course Pro Shop. The tournament HQ is considered ON the ball golf course.

FRIDAY DOUBLES AT WATERLOO

1 round of 18 holes, open to everyone. Bring Your Own Partner doubles, Best Shot (aka Scramble).

Teams register and pay when they show up.
Please bring cash to pay for doubles; it is just faster and easier. We should have a Square reader available for credit cards, but that really slows things down. NO electronic payments available.

We have to stop teeing teams off at 4:00pm. Main thing is be there early enough to play. The closer it gets to 4:00pm the less chance of playing because if there are a bunch of other teams ahead of you waiting to tee off you wouldn’t be able to start in time.

Goal: start teeing teams off at 9:30am, with signup starting about 8:45-9:00am. Most years many teams have had time to play twice (once on each course or twice on the same course).

Cards will be limited to 2 teams to keep things flowing smoothly.

The fee is $25 per person; includes $9 greens fee for the round, $2 ace pot, $2 fundraising, and $12 to payout. So for a team the full fee is $50.

Two courses are available: Olse Course and Kelly Course.
The competition is course-specific.
The ace pot is course-specific.
If there are no aces on a course, that ace pot money will go to the fundraising.

If a team plays the same course more than once, only the best score will count.

If you sign up for one course but then change your mind and want to play the other instead, you MUST come by HQ, tell the doubles sign-up staff, and get a new scorecard.

We will have all the usual divisions:
Rec through Pro
the age protected ones too
PLUS a mixed division (male & female). The mixed division can have players of any skill level
ALL mixed division payout is in merchandise.

Reminder: For age-protected divisions and ratings protected divisions, BOTH players must qualify for that division.

Also, general doubles etiquette is that if you have a team with players of two different skill levels, you play to the HIGHER division. Ex: a pro and an advanced player should play pro; a rec and an advanced player should play advanced (you do NOT split the difference and play intermediate  ).

The courses will NOT be open for practice before the tournament. We only have it leased for Friday through Sunday. So if you want to practice for Sat. & Sun., Playing Doubles is your only chance.

Results posted on Sunday morning (and if possible, Saturday afternoon). Awards for doubles can be picked up anytime on Sunday the 20th.

This tournament will again benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas (RMH); last year’s donation to RMH was $10,500, and the tournament’s grand total over the years is now $188,643.

Please consider the following support levels to help us raise more this year than last:

A. For a sponsorship of $400 (cash) or $600 (merchandise), or more: your logo or name on the back of the official tournament shirt and on a tee-box sign, on each course. Plus, you may display one of your banners at tournament headquarters. Your logo/name also will receive some online shout-outs and be added to the Sponsor List that will be displayed at the course and posted online.

B. For $150 - $299 (cash or merchandise): your logo/name on a tee-box sign (on one course), you may display one of your banners at tournament headquarters, and inclusion on the Sponsor List to be displayed at the course and posted online.

C. For up to $149 (cash or merchandise): your name on the Sponsor List to be displayed at the course and posted online.

Sponsorship can be in the form of cash, merchandise, or a combination of the two. Please mail all sponsorship to Waterloo Disc Golf Club, PO Box 33531 Austin, TX, 78764 (checks payable to Waterloo DGC). If you wish, you may make your check payable directly to Ronald McDonald House CCTX to get the tax benefits of a charitable donation.

How does registration go.from 124 player registestered to 180 and full.in less than 10 seconds unless golfscene has players pre-registered and prepaid just waiting for.8 pm to get here and boom they are all.in it's time to.boycot golfscene regestration they charge each person almost.6.dollars to regesture and probably some kind of membership to pre regesture for any upcoming tournaments so it was virtually impossible for anybody to use regular regestration today but. Maybe half those people will opt out and the wait list people will get in
