About this tournament

Tipp City Disc Golf invites you to join our 2nd Annual BYOP Doubles Tournament at Tipp City Park Disc Golf Course!

Last year, we hosted the first tournament at the Tipp City course since its inception, and from all reports from the players, and how it went on our end, it was a resounding success. We were able to raise over $700 dollars, which we put to use getting a brand new MVP basket, paying for some insurance expenses, purchasing multiple new basket sleeves, and getting 2 of those sleeves installed and the basket in the ground on hole 13. I hope to do even more this year, if we can.

This is an unsanctioned BYOP Doubles tournament, same set up as last year. Sign up as partners, play best shot doubles over two rounds, and hopefully you can take home some winnings! We will be playing 20 holes, the normal 18 alongside 2 extra holes added in the field alongside hole 8.(I may change these holes this year, I'll update everyone if I do). It is a shotgun start, and as such there will be 120 players, 3 teams on each hole.

The BIGred Food Truck by Redberry will be on the scene! I highly recommend trying them out if you haven't, and I'd appreciate you supporting them as they are helping support us! They helped out a ton last year and it looks like they are in for the long haul with us. Pop down there by hole 8 and grab something between your rounds!

There will be a 5$ 50/50 Ace pot at check in. If no Ace is hit, we will do a CTP for the Ace pot after the tournament. We will also have CTP prizes on multiple holes, and multiple items being raffled off, so bring some cash for raffle tickets!

All of the OB rules will be explained in the players meeting and marked. Although this is an unsanctioned event, we will use all of the normal PDGA rules for OB, lies, relief, etc.
Those Rules can be found here: https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf

Please do your best to pick an appropriate division for your team. If you aren't sure, you can ask me for advice on what I think would be right for you. Generally you should lean towards your strongest players preferred division, but maybe not always. I reserve the right to refuse any blatantly unfair division choices. If any division has less than three teams, they may need to combine with another division. This will be addressed with those players beforehand if it is an issue.

Last year, a lot of players picked MA2 so they could compete against each other for fun. This included some players picking a newer partner and playing down a little, and some lower division players playing up into MA2. They were all aware of this, and I don't mind something like this as long as everyone is okay with it. At the end of the day, this is an event that's about having fun and pitching in, we aren't playing for prestige. I was just glad they got to have a good time.

If anyone isn't wanting to play and would like to help volunteer, or would like to help with course work before hand, please let me know. I’m still new to this, and my only help for most of the preparation and running the event is really my wife and mom, so I’m welcome to help.

We are using this event as a fundraising event. As such, the majority of the money will be used to payout players based on how many players participated in their division using the PDGA calculator. Entry fees will be collected using PayPal and winnings will be distributed via PayPal as well. PLEASE MAKE SURE WHOEVER SIGNS UP YOUR TEAM HAS READY ACCESS TO THE PAYPAL ACCOUNT THEY SIGN UP WITH. We only had minor issues last year, but I’d like to make it clear now so we can avoid them, the payouts will go to whoever signs up your team.

Last year we paid out 70% to the players and kept 30% for the club. I envision doing pretty much the same this year. Like I said, last year was a big success and we want to keep pushing forward. This year I’d like to get us another basket, more supplies to get the last two collars in the ground and clean up 5, and get us non-profit status. We may not get all of that this year, but that's the goal we are working towards. Non-profit status opens us up to a whole new world of possibilities.

If you have any questions, I’d prefer you message me at https://www.facebook.com/TippCityDiscGolf but if that’s not possible, I can check them on here also, it’s just very annoying and it’ll take me longer to notice the messages and comments on here, fair warning.

I will be seeking hole sponsors again this year just like last year, although I do think I may ask for more from them. Last year we had multiple people sponsor multiple holes, it makes more sense for us to spread them out more for a little more. Every little bit counts. If you are interested in sponsoring a hole, we put up signs at each hole with a logo and description of your choosing, along with any contact information you'd like, we will also make posts on our Facebook for the sponsors, and put up a sign at Tournament Central with all of the sponsors on them.

Thank you guys for a great event last year, looking forward to another one!
