Only 2 days away. Today and tomorrow super windy, but the 3 days for the weekend looks pretty promising for weather.

Wanted to update everyone for Thursday check in. Due to expected 30-40 MPH gusting winds we are moving player early check in and player package pickup to the Veterans Pavillion located at 801 5th Ave West in Dickinson at Memorial Park. Across the street from Rocky Butte Park. We will be inside the veterans pavillion for player package pickup and any other information you may need.

ND States updates: Will send out mass email shortly. All of the OB is in place and marked with rope or orange paint except the road way along 9 and around the greens of 11 and 13 to allow for one more mowing. Also wanted to post that some minor clarifications to the tee/hole maps on the following Tee 2A (R3) - clearly ID OB. Tee 11A/11B - when you can proceed to DZ. 14B (R3) added optional DZ for approach to green. Tee 17B / 17C - corrected typo. Updated R1, R2 and R3 maps also posted to include all DZ's. Thanks Jaren and Justin for catching these.

In the event of any playoffs for 1st place in any division. It will be sudden death and the order of holes played will be the round 3 layout on 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 (and should the near impossibility of a tie still be in place) will start over on 13 again - playing those 6 holes consecutively until a winner is determined.

All individual hole tee signs with OB descriptions and updated full round maps are now in the pictures section. Hole 8 had some order changes as to what pin was being played on what round is only changes to those full round maps.

Less than 2 weeks until the event.
Registration is now closing Tuesday August 20th at 8:00 PM, so this is the last weekend to sign up for those that are procrastinating, and we are getting close to being full. This date will also be the last day for refund requests.
We rec'd another couple of generous donations to the event, from RLK (Ryan Kilwein's company) and from Northern Bottling Co for some drinks, so that is great and will make the event even better.

And payout wise with the additional donations: We are now at essentially guaranteed 300% payout for each division .

Hey everyone, hope all is going well, we are now less than 4 weeks away from the event.

Course updates:
We did get a couple of tee-pads moved to new positions this past weekend, and those holes are playing great (new shorter tee for 12, and new short right tee on 10). We also have several new ones to pour – that is taking place this coming Saturday, so by middle of next week the course will essentially be in state play shape (minus marked ob)


And further FYI: It is pretty dry out here as it is normally this time of year. We are getting rain now, and it is supposed to be cool and rainy this week, so hoping fire conditions improve. But if like several years we’ve had the event, if there is a fire ban on, may mean no campfires at the primitive and modern campsites – just want people to be aware that is a possibility.

Tournament updates:

I will have all the specific round layouts posted this weekend, but expect it similar to past years state championships, for the course to get progressively harder. Pro par will likely be R1=64, R2=67, R3=70.

Friday will also be the day of the concurrent flex start on the Rocky Butte course (birdie-fest version) running from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM for those who want more golf. I will get that sanctioned and posted next week as well. It will be $20 per competitor, you can enter the day of, and will be open to non-state participants as well. Just need to show up with at least 3 players – check in and start your round.

Lunch served 11:00 – 2:00+ at Patterson Lake Tourney Central.

Saturday: Shotgun start
Morning Round – 9:00 AM Tee time for MPO

8:00 AM – 1st group tee time approximately every 12-15 minutes: MA1, FA1, MA40, MP65, MP60, MP55, MP40, MPO.

For speed of play we will try our best to keep all cards to 3 per card, but of course, with #’s may end up having to have a few 4 per card groups or combining groups that don’t have 3 people in them.

July 24th UPDATE: Generous sponsorships continue to roll in, so we are now up to 6K in added cash to pro divisions and an equivalent value to the Advanced AM side of things. 1st place pro projected to be a $2000 payout.

Just wanted to send out a few updates on some other items:

2. Registration for the event will be closing August 25th - approx 1 week before the event so if you are on the fence still have about a month to make a decision.

3. There is still 1 modern campsite and multiple primitive sites still available, so be sure to text or email me to reserve your spot - though again, on the primitive side, there is ample room at those sites to double up if need be.

4. Hope to have final approval on several course improvements that we are working this week. We've already implemented a couple of new pins and plan for 3 new tee pads (additional new tee's on hole 10 and 12, along with a new replacement on hole 11) and a couple of tee pad moves still in the works over the next couple of weeks.

5. Hot stamped discs from Innova have been ordered and will be part of players package.

6. Final course layouts and schedule will be posted at least 3 weeks prior to the event. With OB all marked at least 1 week prior to the event.

Free participant campsite reservations are about 1/3 full, so requests are going pretty fast. Though again, there is ample room at most of the primitive locations to double up should it fill up. But would just add, and I had forgotten to put in original comment, but please do not request a reservation if you have not yet registered for the tournament. I've had several requests that way already and will not put you down for a reserved site if you haven't yet decided to register.

Dickinson Parks and Recreation has been generous to support the event once again. And in addition are giving the participants of this event free access to the primitive campground side for free. Please let me know if you prefer a campsite as they are limited to approx 15 total primitive sites (though there is ample room to double up if necessary). An additional 5 modern hook-up sites (Water, Electricity, Sewer dumps) have been reserved for participants as well (August 29, 30, and 31). Both sets are first come first served so please text or email me to reserve your spot.
