First and foremost, thank you to all of you for coming out to compete at the 2025 Salt Lake Open. This was our first year bringing this event back into the fold, and we couldn't be happier with the turnout. 147 competitors showed up this weekend to get tested at 3 very different courses in the Salt Lake Valley, and we had some extremely tight races across divisions. Congratulations to our division winners - Ryan Bain (MPO), Mark Spicer (MP40), Bradley Brice (MP50), Mike Whipple (MP60), Tyrel Vixaysack (MA1), Lisa Aun (FA1), Jimmy Staggs (MA40), Jared Warner (MA50), Gregg Davis (MA60), Mark Paul (MA2), Spencer Garrett (MA3), Jocylynn Smith (FA3), & Miles Anderson (MA4).
Some housekeeping items -
-- Final Payouts for PRO Divisions is complete.
-- AMS Payouts will be finalized early tomorrow, my brain ran our of steam this afternoon.
-- CTP Winners -- I will be reaching out individually to those of you who did not collect their payouts on-site for your venmo/paypals.-- We had TWO aces this weekend, both bought in, taking $255 each! Congrats to Daniel Monahan and Stone Smith.
I would be remiss entirely if I did not mention the exceptional help I had this weekend.
Thank you thank you, thank you, to our course TD's Dan Langford and Britain Best (Bingham), John Ward (Roots), and Mandie Chamberlain (Creekside) for their assistance with this event. It ran smoothly as a result of their work, and this event would not happen without them.
Another thanks is due to Mac Hansen for his awesome work on the trophies, Hayden Seager for getting me some signs made in a pinch, Scott Belchak for his assistance with the Bingham Creek layout, Chandler Purtle for his help setting up Roots with flags and clear lines, Jimmy Staggs for his support of our event series, AK Kaestner for getting the cooler that I was totally too tired to remember, Jacob Barham for absolutely just crushing 3 full days of work in the shop, and Ian Dahlen Flor and Dave Nelson for filming all 3 days of MPO Lead Card, which I'm sure will be published in the next hour or I'll riot, (this is a joke, please take your time, they said that it would take it a week or so). It will be on the Bad Throws Good Bros channel as well as ours if you want to re-live the weekend.
Finally - these events do not happen without you, the player.
We took a swing at running 5 consecutive A/B Tiers between July and September this year - the Salt Lake Open was the first on that list.
Here are the remaining sanctioned events we are running this year - thanks for coming out:
Utah State Championships - August 8th-10th, Brighton and Creekside
Solitude Open - August 23rd-24th - Solitude Mountain Resort
Creekside Open - AM Weekend - September 13th - 14th, Creekside
Creekside Open - PRO Weekend - September 20th-21st, Creekside
We will see you at the 2026 Salt Lake Open.
