I was really impressed with the jerseys for this years Mega Bowl, and wondered if there were any available for purchase after the event?

Ben Swam   April 29 at 2:21pm

Thanks Brandon! We are still sorting through everything but if there are extras available, we will definitely be offering them up for sale. Keep an eye out on the MCMB Facebook page for details about purchasing them.

Amanda Wing    April 28 at 3:20am

Lost a green vortex on whole coming down the hill toward the thick part of the bushes before rive. Name and number on inside rim if found. Darn cut roll on that downward slope! BOO, should have played practices rounds.

I will not be playing this weekend..

Ben Swam   April 26 at 2:02pm

Thanks Josh. I got your email as well.

Perfect..7 straight days of migraines..was the worst

Bethel Barrett    April 25 at 1:08am

Just looking for tournament validation… we can get casual relief from ‘fire ant’ mounds ?

Ben Swam   April 25 at 2:21am

803.02.A (Relief from Obstacles)
A player may obtain relief from the following obstacles: harmful insects or animals, or any item as designated by the Director. To obtain relief, the player may mark a new lie that is on the line of play, farther from the target, at the nearest point that provides relief (unless greater relief is announced by the Director).

Ben Swam   April 25 at 2:22am

Fire ants are definitely harmful insects

John N    April 22 at 5:19pm

So if you plan on having a caddy were you suppose to register them or do they just tag along?

Brooks Fielding   April 22 at 5:39pm

Caddy's just tag along - this is actually Brooks's father, Chris, and I caddy for him most tournaments. I don't have to "notify" anyone or anything

Amanda Wing    April 22 at 4:55pm

Any one have a lead on decent housing opitons by Trussville? I am bringing my pup

Kevin Turner   April 24 at 12:50pm

It sounds like you are looking for a place for your dog while you are playing, so not directed at you. But just a reminder to all, that pets are not permitted for players (and caddies) while playing their round. Only licensed medical service animals. https://www.pdga.com/rules/competition-manual/301

Jonathan Vincent    April 22 at 1:34pm

Are we allowed to have another player grab our player pack on thursday downtown? Josh Hudson will be in the area and it would save me a trip. If not, no big deal. Thanks!

Ben Swam   April 22 at 2:15pm

Thanks for the question Jon. We really need everyone to make an effort to pick up their own player packs if possible. There are 4 days worth of opportunities and for two of the days there is a 10 hour (8am-6pm) window for pick-up. Thanks to everyone for understanding.

Kelvin David Smith    April 22 at 12:47pm

I’m signed up for the MA70+ and seems I’m the only participant in this group, I’d like to change to MA4 which seems to be more in line with my rating numbers!
Thanks,
Kelvin David Smith

Ben Swam   April 22 at 2:06pm

I have moved you to MA4 per your request.

This will be my first time playing the courses in Birmingham, how cart friendly are the courses? I'm playing Humble, Civ, and Magnolia. I've watched previews and it seems the main one that'll give me problems is Humble and possibly Civ on certain holes. I have the Rovic three wheel cart for reference.

Ben Swam   April 21 at 7:22pm

Humble Tree and Magnolia are definitely cart friendly. There are a couple of tough spots for carts at Civitan but if you can deal with those, 90% of the course is great for carts.

Amanda Wing   April 22 at 4:55pm

Thanks Been super helpful!

James Buxton    April 20 at 4:48am

Just uploaded a Humble Tree DGC walkthrough if anyone is interested: https://youtu.be/bAPbEXCkaFY?si=DimEYXpYWqIE9z7Z

This is my first A tier event. With that, I have seen that A tier and Pro level events there is a dress code for shirts, i.e. dry-fit, collared. Is this tourney going to enforce this?

Ben Swam   April 14 at 12:49pm

Dress code is posted in the About section info now.

Jonathan lowery    April 3 at 9:54pm

Where will we pick up are players pack

Ben Swam   April 4 at 1:10pm

TBD right now. That information will be provided in plenty of time to get them though.

Ben Swam    April 2 at 8:16pm

04/02/24 - Layout Updates added to Documents section of the About page

Inverness - due to recent construction, for hole 12, all players will play pin B instead of A. Par adjusted accordingly.

Civitan - Updated pars added for C Pool layout.

No other changes right now but there should be an expectation that Magnolia Links will have a least a few before the month is out.

1s basket will get moved this week. 18 is in the correct position, udisc megabowl layout is getting updated now. it had to go through approval with 11s new teepad

Brooks Fielding   April 22 at 1:20pm

So, just to be clear - this weekend, everyone will play to the reds on each hole, right?

Will Hudson   April 22 at 9:01pm

Yes

Benjamin Anderson    March 9 at 1:18am

Is there a cutoff date for player packs like last year? I remember if you signed up closer toward tournament time you got store credit instead of a player pack. Curious as to if that's still the case and if so how much store credit would it be?

Ben Swam   March 9 at 1:41am

We will not offer that option this year. Once we get to our internal deadline, we will shrink or increase the field based on how many are registered. Once we run out of player packs, we will not allow more players.

Ben Swam    March 4 at 1:31pm

**Attention MA2**

Just an update about an error that I made when I posted the layout assignments for MCMB last week.

MA2 will be playing the GREEN layout at Inverness both days, not the Blue layout which was incorrectly indicated on the first layouts I posted.

I apologize for the confusion. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Ben Swam    February 27 at 10:27pm

Layouts have been added to the About section under Documents (directly above the flyer). Expect changes to Magnolia as several holes are "under construction" and may or may not be complete in time for MCMB.

Ben Swam   February 28 at 10:36pm

Yes, everyone will play the same layout at Civitan, just as they always have.

Hunter Horton   February 28 at 10:37pm

this is the first year MA4 is playing civ tho

Ben Swam   February 29 at 2:58pm

@Hunter - Maybe the first time you have played it but definitely not the first time that MA4 has played the same layout as MPO at Civitan in the Magic City Mega Bowl.

Evan Garner    February 20 at 2:58am

How do the Flex Starts work? Are they included in the registration fee or are those separately paid for? And are there any set courses that will be used for those?

Ben Swam   February 20 at 3:12am

Separate events that will have their own registration pages closer to the time of the tournament. Courses are TBD.

Ben Swam    January 30 at 10:02pm

1-30-2024 - I am very sorry to have to make this type of change after registration has opened.

Unfortunately, due to conflicting events at the Trussville Sports Complex, I cannot, in good conscience, attempt to use the Greg Carter Memorial Disc Golf course for the weekend of the Mega Bowl.

Parking and the number of playable holes would be severely impacted in a negative way.

Because of this, I have reduced the number of pools from 4 to 3 and the course rotation has changed for Pools B a ... more

@Brooks - Pinson will be used for a Flex start event that weekend but will not be included in the A-tier rounds.

Kevin Turner   January 31 at 5:46pm

It's pickleball's fault isn't it?

Ben Swam   January 31 at 5:51pm

@Kevin - Lol, nope, not this time. Soccer and Baseball. Two large tournaments the same weekend.

Rooster Cooper    January 21 at 8:16pm

Which tees (red or blue) is the B Pool playing from at Inverness?

Ben Swam   January 22 at 1:10am

Female divisions will play red tees. Mixed divisions will play green tees which is a combination of some red and some blue tees. Layouts will be finalized and posted in late February.

Derek Lampe    January 20 at 1:10am

I’m so excited for this. I miss out last year but I’m glad I registered for it this year as my first A-Tier.

Is there any hotel suggestions?

Ben Swam   January 20 at 1:21am

We are waiting to hear back from some potential host hotels. I will post something as soon as I have the info. Excited that you can play this year!

Ben Swam   January 30 at 9:50pm

Hotel info has been added to the About page of the event here on DG Scene.
