About this tournament
Welcome to the 2023 So Cal Disc Golf Club Year-End Awards and Fun Round!
We have had an amazing year of disc golf in So Cal and it’s time to honor the players who excelled in each division and thank the Tournament Directors and Volunteers who made it all happen. Our tradition in So Cal has been to hold an event that begins with a fun round of disc golf and segues to an award ceremony and club meeting. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 in Los Angeles, specifically Harbor City. The “Fun Round” as we like to call it will be held at the Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park Disc Golf Course (details below) and the Awards and Club Meeting will be held at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum (details below).
Check in for the Fun Round at Ken Malloy will begin at 1pm on 12/9/2022 and the shotgun start round will begin at 2pm. It is a singles stroke play round and for the first time ever will be a sanctioned round with PDGA points and ratings. As has been the case in the past, there will be no cash payout, but the cool thing about the Fun Round is the EVERYONE WHO PLAYS WINS A PRIZE! Prizes will be distributed at the Maritime Museum. If you haven’t played or been to Ken Malloy DGC yet, it is listed on UDisc: https://udisc.com/courses/ken-malloy-harbor-regional-park-w3pX
We will post a map with the location of Ken Malloy and the Maritime Museum in the Pictures section of this registration page. Google Maps directions from Ken Malloy to the Maritime Museum are here: https://goo.gl/maps/kLksRK1PdfpjKUXd9
The So Cal 2023 Series Awards and Club Meeting will be held at the Los Angeles Maritime Museum in San Pedro, CA. The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks has made the museum’s meeting room available for our use for a very modest fee. This venue is full of amazing historical displays showcasing the wonders of the Los Angeles Harbor. The Awards and Club Meeting will begin at 5:30pm, but we’re asking for help from members to set up the meeting room starting at 5pm. We will be handing out awards to top finishers in every division that competed in the So Cal Series, recognizing the Series’ TDs and Volunteers, distributing prizes from the Fun Round and holding a So Cal Disc Golf Club Membership Meeting to vote in the 2024 Board of Directors and address any other important issues. Your entry fee also covers a catered taco buffet and sodas – all other beverages are BYOB. If you’re wondering whether you are in the running for a 2023 So Cal Series award, the updated points (through the So Cal Am Championships) are posted on the So Cal website: https://socaldiscgolfclub.wordpress.com/2023-standings-and-results/
Registration for 2024 So Cal Disc Golf Club membership is available as an add-on to your registration for this event. Sign up now and you can pick up your member disc and bag tag at the Awards and Club Meeting.
We hope to see you on Saturday, December 9th at “The Refinery” for the Fun Round and at the Maritime Museum for tacos and awards!
