This may have already been addressed but there are so many comments I don’t want to search through them. Why is the AM cut for semi finals only 20% of the field instead of the normal 40%?
Ed Behl July 1, 2023 at 8:23pm
When will estimated tee times be posted?
Ed Behl July 1, 2023 at 8:23pm
Will there be caddy books?

Yes, they were working on them today, should be up pretty soon.
Scott Elam June 30, 2023 at 8:04pm
Is it still possible to enter the field events? I always do those, but it appears as though I didn't enter them for the first time in 10 years. THANKS!

Can 8 spots be added to both pool D (8 spots to MA 40) & Pool E (4 spots to MA50 & 4 spots to MA 55) so they have 160 players total like the rest of the pools? Right now they only have 152 spots and both of their opposing pools they rotate courses with have 160 players. Seems like a simple, fair give and will make a world of difference for 16 age-protected players who qualified like everyone else. Thanks

MA 60 only has 52 spots and 19 on the waitlist. Maybe more spots should be added to that division along with MA 65
John Scheinpflug June 29, 2023 at 11:39pm
With registration closing yesterday, are these remaining 24 spots going to be filled right away? I would think others (and myself) would like to know either to make or cancel arrangements. Please respond.
![](https://www.discgolfscene.com/app/images/global/p-0-small.jpg)
That's not true Big Dog. When registration closed last week, MA 65 had 32 spots filled with 32 spots available. A couple of days later, 4 spots were added so now they have 36 in that division. Those adjustments were made after the closing of registration.

It certainly is true John, as that is exactly what I was referring to. It was done yesterday morning, not a couple of days ago. We were able to utilize 4 unused spots from MP65 to increase MA65 from 32 to 36 as they were in the same course pool. We did the same for MP60 in the B Pool by using four unused spots from MP50 in the same pool increasing MP60 from 40 to 44.
![](https://m.discgolfscene.com/avatars/29384/da30629fe342.jpg)
It is important to note that we could only make those moves by moving spots from within the same pool, without increasing the number of playing groups in each pool.

It’s sad that we have to pay for the players party. Guess I won’t be there.
I’m a player and I’m not pay for a party for us. Not right and I hate seeing this.
Shawn Christophersen June 29, 2023 at 7:22pm
What is the last day that someone can be moved from the waitlist to registered?
![](https://m.discgolfscene.com/avatars/168735/8d888e9381b3.jpg)
July 7th all waitlisted individuals receive full refund minus $10. So, I believe that is the day.
Don Krueger June 29, 2023 at 7:17pm
I'm sure your looking at everything but it looks like Pool F has a large number of open spots (33 +/-). Could you consider moving MP65 and MP70 from pool C to Pool F to allow a large portion of the 35 people waitlisted for MA60 and MA65 to get in?
![](https://m.discgolfscene.com/avatars/29384/da30629fe342.jpg)
That isn't possible, not enough room in F pool and it's different courses.
Don Altmyer June 29, 2023 at 4:43pm
There are 14 spots unfilled in Pool C: 6 in MP65 and MP70 and 8 in FA 40 and FA 55. I suggest that we allocate those spots to the Waitlist to the oldest divisions first. As my buddy Ron Pittman says: I am asking for a friend. Looking forward to hanging out with 900 of my disc golf brothers and sisters!

We didn't add space overall, we took unused space from one division and moved it to another division in the same pool where we could without adding playing groups to the course pool. We increased MP60 by 4, MA65 by 4, FP60 by 1, MA75 by 1. total of 10 players off the waitlists.
J. Cleveland Gobert June 29, 2023 at 2:05pm
Is there on site registration for field events?
Dale E Baynes June 29, 2023 at 11:26am
Do I need to purchase any caddie credentials prior to arriving or does my caddy need anything at all
![](https://www.discgolfscene.com/app/images/global/p-0-small.jpg)
You’ll get a caddie bib in your players pack. Just have your caddy wear it while caddying.

Curious as to if any other MA60 players will be staying at Host hotel ( Little America ) that would have room in vehicle that I can get a ride to our courses ?
![](https://m.discgolfscene.com/avatars/186030/ba75651bfd1a.jpg)
I am across the street (black barts) and available to give you a ride to Tuthill as well. (480) 287-0303.

Trace, Roger is a good man. I've played with him at The Canyons. Thanks for you or Rick offering a ride to him.
Kevin Evers June 29, 2023 at 1:48am
Any chance the divisions will be resized so that the tournament will get to 520/520 competitors?
![](https://m.discgolfscene.com/avatars/196404/e3a138d741ec.jpg)
LOL! My flights are booked too! You’d think they would want to take our money and get the player count to 520/520

Are MA55 course cart friendly? Bringing bag too, just wanted to know. NAU and McPherson.
![](https://www.discgolfscene.com/app/images/global/p-0-small.jpg)
Played those two courses in late May. First take away was that they are not cart friendly at all. I'm not sure what the locals do, but at first look it did not seem feasible.
Don Krueger June 28, 2023 at 2:53pm
Are there plans to make division cap adjustments within each pool? ie: Pool C has 6 unused spots between MP65 and MP70. MA65 would love to have thoes spots . . .just say'in
![](https://m.discgolfscene.com/avatars/29384/da30629fe342.jpg)
As soon as reg closes we will be looking at all those scenarios. In the C Pool example only 4 spots could move though or the number of cards in the pool will be oversubscribed.
John Benson II June 28, 2023 at 1:53pm
for us MA50 players there is a master's 2023 layout for McPherson but for NAU there is only a main layout currently on UDisc.. is that what we'll be playing?

Any local insight into bugs [mosquito/tick] and nasty plants [poison ivy/oak]?
![](https://m.discgolfscene.com/avatars/20635/cbfd9959ec6e.jpg)
Thanks Daniel. Your response is telling me that none of the above are found on these courses? If true, it would save on packing bug spray.
Nick Walls June 28, 2023 at 2:28am
Playing MA40, curiouse if the course are cart friendly?
Curtis Shriver June 28, 2023 at 1:41am
Will Snowbowl be available for casual play?
I think the TD really (like REALLY) needs to address this. It makes zero sense.
I never would have invested the money for this week had I known. It makes no sense
It was already addressed. Search previous comments
What is the question text where it was addressed? There was another thread I saw, but never received an official answer…
This one is on page 3. Brian Usher: June 6 at 2:00pm I am really curious as to the reasoning behind having the AM side for semis at 20% while the pro's remain at 40%. I think that a top ten finish at a World Championship is a very worthy accomplishment and in the past the battles for th ... more
This one is on page 3. Brian Usher: June 6 at 2:00pm I am really curious as to the reasoning behind having the AM side for semis at 20% while the pro's remain at 40%. I think that a top ten finish at a World Championship is a very worthy accomplishment and in the past the battles for that top ten spot has been quite competitive during semis. Only ten spots for semis seems really tight for example.
That comment from June 6th didn’t have any answers in it - hoping the TDs can weigh in on this somewhere.
I assume course constraints. Since I'm considered a 'seat filler' by some, it's unlikely I'd make either cut anyway. But extending the argument by those who think this event should be the best of the best, then 20% seems to be just that. Do I agree with any of that? No, 40% would be great, but it's also not a deal breaker for me like some others. It is what it is, let's get to playing, folks!
The general standard in the past has been 40%. Unsure why there's a change for this event.
I've played in the last 10 Am Worlds folks... the cut is almost always 25%-30% and has NEVER been 40%. Someone simply made that up.

MA40 (58 of 145 = 40%) MA50 (30 of 75 = 40%) MA55 (28 of 69 = 40.5%) MA60 (24 of 60 = 40%) MA65 (12 of 28 = 42.8%) MA70 (11 of 26) = 42.3%..." Last year alone in MA40 top 60 players plus ties (out of 142 competitors) made it to the semi finals. That comes to a 43.6% semi-finals cut just last year. All easily able to be found simply by looking at last years PDGA info. But we should trust your since you played the last 10 years and not the PDGA's own records from the event. Got it.
Okay... so LAST year they did 40%, but that doesn't mean NORMAL. From 2013 to 2021, the cuts were 33% with ties. I just checked each year.
Weren't those 6 round events that then cut to top 33%-35% for the semi finals, then 4 for the final 9? Obviously 2020 is out for comparison, but I believe 2019 and 2021 were 6 rounds before cuts.
@Scott Elam - In 2022, which is the same format as 2023 (4 rounds before a cut to the semi-finals), looking at our division (MA55), there were 69 players in the divsion, and 33 players made the Semi-finals (47.8%). MA40 last year had 143 players in the division and 60 made the cut for the semi-finals (41.9%). So last year clearly set a precent for 4 rounds and then a cut to 40%+ ties to the semis. The TD has still not offered an explanation as to why this is. With the cost and time committment for so many players to play in this tournament, they should have found a way to allow as many people to play in the semi's as last year.
Everybody had this information available to them before registering. At this point an explanation is not required.
I for one appreciate all the work the TD and his team have put into this, and I am sure no decisions were made arbitrarily.
I too am very curious about the Am 20% cut decision. It's not consistent with past Worlds. It certainly doesn't seem to be restricted based on semis course availability. This is the current semis player count by pool with today's reg list: A-61, B-65, C-49, D-31, E-32, F-23. All t ... more

This is the current semis player count by pool with today's reg list: A-61, B-65, C-49, D-31, E-32, F-23. All the AM pools (C-F) are well under a 72 player capacity cap. You could easily do a 33% cut: C-60, D-51, E-52, F-35. A full 40%: C-66, D-61, E-62, F-41 could be tight in the C pool where there are six divisions accepting ties.
