General Registration opens up this Saturday for our third Gargoyle Classic!
I have always enjoyed bringing y'all an exciting players pack with a variety of disc choices in what I consider to be the best plastic in the world. Kastaplast K1 Glow. Discs Unlimited has made it happen for the first two Gargoyle Classics. And with the GRYM going out of production this year, I made sure and put in our custom order super early (4/13) so we could snag the last of the GRYM's, previous popular molds (REKO/BERG) and a new FALK option. We also thought it would be cool to show off the discs before registration opened. My assistant TD followed up a couple weeks later in April after we hadn't heard anything. There was a minor artwork change needed so I approved and I was told the tool would be ordered. I asked if it was possible to get the discs by May 15th and Discs Unlimited assured me they had our discs set aside and would do their best to meet our deadline. That day came and went so I called on May 19th and was told the tool still hadn't come in. So I asked if it was possible to add 10 more GRYM's to the order. The owner said he was looking at our discs and would take care of it. Fast forward to June 6th. Talking to the owner again, I ask where things are at and he says they forgot to order the die so it will probably be another three weeks. Something wasn't adding up so I decided to make a polite Facebook post on "Let's Kastaplast". The Discs Unlimited die manager Andrew gets tagged and tells me he thinks he can get our order done next week. A week goes by and I get a message from Andrew this past Friday. Andrew tells me I need to choose some substitutions because there are no more GRYM's or FALK's available for our order. This was the last thing I was expecting 10 weeks after placing our order and being told several times that the Gargoyle Classic's discs were set aside. Long story, I am disappointed to report that there will be no player disc choices for this year's Classic player packs and everyone in the am divisions will now get a K1 Glow BERG. If you were excited like me about a particular mold as I know many of you were, take solace. You will definitely not be disappointed when you get this year's player pack. And more importantly, another rock-solid tournament awaits all of us who congregate and come 9/24 to compete for cash, merch, glory & the ugliest trophies in disc golf.
