Terrible Turkey Toss 2023
About this tournament
This is a free, unsanctioned, chaotic, holiday-themed tournament consisting of three rounds of 9-holes, featuring a "White Elephant"-style mystery disc, and a combination of singles & doubles on Thanksgiving morning at Patriots Park Disc Golf Course in Grovetown, GA.
The event structure is based on each player bringing one PDGA-approved 'mystery disc' (that's anonymously concealed in wrapping paper or gift bag). A random drawing/lottery allows each player to pick their present, containing a terrible disc that would harm or help them through rounds one & two. Scoring for round one is standard, while scoring for both rounds two & three is the cumulative total for your doubles team's performance. The tournament winner is simply the player with the least terrible (lowest) total score.
1. Round one is a standard-play singles on the front nine holes, but played entirely with your recently acquired mandatory mystery disc.
2. Round two will see players paired up in high/low doubles (based on round one's scores). Going down the back nine in an Alternating Shot/Alternating Tee format, but played entirely with your recently acquired mandatory mystery disc.
3. Round three will have newly restructured high/low doubles (based on combination of round one & two's scores). Round three also will have Alternating Shot/Alternating Tee team format, but players can now benefit from their full arsenal/bag/cart of discs as they stive to overcome earlier challenges or strengths.
The tournament winner shall receive an astoundingly terrible trophy and shall have the title of "CRSA's 2022 Okayest Disc Golfer" bestowed upon them at the terrible award ceremony. The tournament player with the most terrible (highest) final score shall receive a conciliation prize, to facilitate their future achievements & improvements to someday be not-so-terrible. There are also eight free CTP's in play during round one, including multiple cash prizes, rare discs, and a gift card.
