2021 MBDGC Coastal Cup
About this tournament
Hello everyone, its that time of the year that the CDGC and the MBDGC decide to throw down through a couple of rounds of disc golf.
The point system goes like This:
The Coastal Cup is a “Ryder Cup Style” team match play competition that was dreamed up over the years between the disc golf clubs in Charleston and Myrtle Beach.
Teams: Each team will consist of 36 Players. Rosters will be determined however the Club and their Captains deem fit. Alternates would be suggested to have on standby in case someone is injured or cannot play Rounds 1 and 2 of matches, or for additional player options.
Format: Event day will consist of TWO Rounds of Match play competition in which each Hole played is worth a point. This will ensure that all matches and all holes played are played for something. A won hole is 1 full point for the team, a tied hole is a ½ point for each team, a lost hole is no point.
Entry Fee: Cost will be $35 per player. Player will receive a custom team shirt for playing. The rest of the entry fee will go towards Trophies and LOTS of Prizes.
Round One: First round will be head to head Singles Match Play. Team Captains will determine their teams roster ranks from 1-36. Once determined players will play Head to Head matches against their numbered counterpart on the other team.
Example: First Group out will be MYRTLE #36 vs. CHUCK #36 and MYRTLE #35 vs. CHUCK #35 to make up a 4-player card. So, on and so forth until 13 groups of 4 are on the course.
Round Two: Second round will be Best Disc Doubles Match Play. Best Disc Doubles Teams will be determined by the Team Captains and sent out in order of CHUCK TEAM 18 vs MYRTLE TEAM 18 and so on until all 18 Doubles Matches are on the course.
After all matches are played the Team with the MOST POINTS will be named the 2020 Coastal Cup winners!
In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by the Team with the most points in Doubles Matches. If still tied based on Doubles points, the previous year winner retains the Cup
MBDGC will host the event at Socastee this year.
If more than 36 players sign up, all players will need to post a qualifying score.
All players will have 2 weeks to post qualifying scores. Qualifying scores must be submitted during a MBDGC tag round on Wednesday or Saturday. 6/2 6/5 6/9 6/12.
After qualifying rounds have been posted and a roaster has been formed, all players that did not make the cut will be offered a full refund or the option to purchase an event team jersey.
