Dana or Ben, can you guys help me understand I how the am layout at Cypress is an advantage over the regular long layout? Sure the Tee pads are closer but almost all the pars are adjusted to be one less. Majority of the short tees are as far as most Rec players first throw (Hole 16 for example) So that doesn’t make the hole any easier. However, The championship short layout doesn’t adjust the pars so there is an actual advantage. Thanks!

I agree- we played the short course off of UDisc before the changes and it was probably 3 strokes easier - everyone has to play the same course well to win- this way it’s less of a birdie fest and a few holes that were on top of each other are a little more separate ????????

You’re not playing against par, you’re playing against the others in your division. Par is irrelevant unless someone is late and gets par +4 on a missed hole.

It says I’m number 7 on the waitlist even though I’m listed 2nd in purple pool, Any chance I’m getting in? Just need to know before I drive down from the panhandle

Registration is open until Friday Dec 31st at 8PM so I think there is still a fairly good chance a couple people will have to withdraw in the next two days. Nothing is guaranteed, but if I were to bet, that is the way I would bet.

It is shotgun start. Hole assignments will be posted Saturday at the latest, but should be checked morning of the tournament as they will be subject to change in the event of late cancellations.

I mean it's only a guess but I'd say with 10 people on the waitlist for the purple pool, it might be tough to get in. If you asking if we are just going to let everyone in off the waitlist, the answer is no.

Friday. Use the AM Layout. We were trying to do the Championship layout but we couldn't do it right away because it needed to be reviewed, whereas we could easily adjust the AM layout that was already existing. So we adjusted the AM Layout.

Not everyone is going to love the short layout, and that's OK. We made it shorter because we have two rounds on long courses and travel between courses with limited sunlight. So speed of play is important.

Most the baskets are where they are going to be. May change hole 8 for speed of play but that is probably it.

Short pads at Cypress are marked and on Udisc, use the "AM Pads" layout. We tried to create a new layout but it has to be approved before we can map and we were at the course, so we updated the existing "AM Pads" layout instead. The AM layout still has the original pars. I did submit for review, but even those may not be final pars. Just wanted to get something in there so y'all could start practicing.

I played it last week and thought the trimming done was a bit of overkill. If you want a better manicured shot, play Floral Park.

There was a flag added, but it wasn't necessary. I agree the cutting was pretty severe.
